The County Legislature of Erie County (Buffalo), NY just passed a ban on conversion therapy for minors. It passed unanimously - even the Republicans voted for it - a real surprise! The County Executive signed it into law just the other day. This is a conservative area on the hot-button social issues which makes it even more of a surprise. A big step in the right direction. Now, if we could only convince the NY State Legislature to do the same thing. I'm sure the Governor would sign it if he had the chance but the problem will be the Republican controlled State Senate that continues to bottle up the GENDA Bill that regularly passes the assembly. New Yorkers - vote this November!

I believe Washington State also outlawed this kind of therapy the other day.
