When would be a good time to come out after starting at a local community college and having teachers and staff call me Karl?

KathyLauren

Everyone's circumstances are different, but I'd think the sooner, the better.

You think I should wait till I get on T?

KathyLauren

That is a call only you can make, perhaps with help from your therapist.

I came out publicly three months after I started HRT, by which time I was getting close to male fail.  I don't know how the timing works on T, but if you start it first, physical changes - facial hair and deepening voice - may eventually force your hand.

My family and friends already know, but I will be going to community college. Not sure when yet.

Fresh start, fresh life. I think it would be a good place to start. Then people don't have old expectations when you do.
Every day is a totally awesome day
Every day provides opportunities and challenges
Every challenge leads to an opportunity
Every fear faced leads to one more strength
Every strength leads to greater success
Success leads to self esteem
Self Esteem leads to happiness.
Cherish every day.

Since you are going to a new place, meeting new people, I think it'd be a good idea to go ahead and introduce yourself as Karl. Since I'm going to college this fall, I've already told the counselors and administration about my gender identity, especially since my legal information currently says different things. I'll be starting T hopefully in college so you can probably tell administration and friends you're close to about your changes.

I'm going into a local community college as stealth as possible until I know its safe. I don't know the college you're going to, and I think a lot depends on your comfort level.

Good idea.

I'm transferring to a new school in August, and I'm planning on starting there with my new name. I haven't started HRT yet, so my situation is a little different. I think that you should do it as soon as possible, so people know you for who you really are from the get go, and don't have to relearn.

I also haven't started T, I think I will change my name with everyone after I've started T and start to pass.
