Has anyone had surgery here? I'm having trouble finding an affordable place to stay nearby. Looked at airbnb and vrbo, various hotels and motels. Nothing seems to be less than $2500 for a month. DX Any recommendations?

I'm guessing you don't want just a your own private room and want an entire place for yourself ? Sweets New York don't come cheap. Your best bet is to rent a private room off a Airbnb

Hello CheekyStoat, welcome to Susan's!

Based on your post I am not sure which country or city you are having surgery in, or which surgeon.  A few GCS surgeons include in-patient recovery center care (mine did for 1-1/2 weeks), then I flew home.  Depends on surgery method, I know in some cases a month is required before traveling.  If you can describe in more detail, someone here has probably been to the same city and doctor and has recommendations for accommodations.

Since this was your first post I'll add information to help with navigation, site guidelines and requirements.

I'm staying in Texas, USA (Dr. Crane's new practice). I was hoping for a general website suggestion. Airbnb and VRBO don't have anything terribly close. Everything's quoted at around $5000+. T_T Might have to bite the bullet and pay it. >.<

But yes, looking for a private place...don't want to be walking around naked and covered in stitches with strangers.

Texas is a big place, whereabouts in that state?

Texas is the tiny state, isn't it? ;D I meant to put the city, Austin. Sorry.

Yeah it's one of the smaller ones and all  ;D

Hmm, Austin...  Nice place and I have a friend who used to live there.  I'll ask him if he has any ideas.  Did you ask the doc if they have any medical rate agreements with local hotels?

If it's for a full month also check Craigslist Austin in the sublets/temporary category.
