Yes I was wondering, can a Psychiatrist prescribe progesterone?

I've really been wanting to start taking it for awhile now, but after over a month of waiting for my first appointment at my new HRT Doctor, I had to stop going to the old one as I have no way to get that far anymore.

But then Monday as I was getting ready for my first appointment with the new doctor, her office calls me up and tells me my appointment is cancelled and she's not taking any new patients. Of course this is apparently something they couldn't of told me sooner...

So I had to find yet another new doctor for my HRT and I did, but my first appointment isn't until mid May...

Thankfully I have literally just enough estradiol and spiro left to last me till two days after that appointment.

But I'll be in my 11th or 12th month at that point, and I really don't want to wait till then to start on the Progesterone when I should be on it already if that doctor hadn't cancelled.

But I have an appointment with my psychiatrist in a little over a week. Would he be able to prescribe it? I have really not been happy lately due to the fact that my body hasn't changed at all since starting HRT, and I really want to start this as I've heard it helps with that.

Your Behavior Health Therapist can't prescribe Hormones Replacement because they are not Medical professional, plus you need Endocrine to monitor your health make sure nothing going wrong.

A Psychiatrist could prescribe it because they are able to prescribe other medications used to treat mental conditions however it's unlikely they would. They haven't received training in HRT and without blood tests, they would be more uncomfortable doing it than your GP would be. Sorry but you will have to wait until you get an appointment with your new endo.

They absolutely can but may choose not to due to lack of experience with it.

You have nothing to lose by asking them, who knows?!
I am not a medical doctor, nor a scientist - opinions expressed by me on the subject of HRT are merely based on my own review of some of the scientific literature over the last decade or so, on anecdotal evidence from women in various discussion forums that I have come across, and my personal experience

On HRT since early 2004
Post-op since late 2005

Or just buy from Amazon? If a woman can why not a trans-girl?
Been starved wayyy tooo long now feel I'm getting very good results from Smoky Mountain Naturals "Progesto-Life Cream"
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

Unless it's a pharmaceutical, it's not going to do much. Same with T. There's a whole industry of ripping people off with all sorts of t enhancers. It's throwing money away.

Even your doctor will not prescribe Hormones because they don't know anything about it unless they want losses their license for malpractice.

But shouldn't we consent to risks that concern our health? I mean we do this for surgeries (basically acknowledging risks) and of course informed consent clinics for hrt... maybe I'm being too critical but anyone in the field of medicine who's ignorant to trans health is way behind and needs to catch up

There are clinics and I think planned parenthood that do informed consent.
