Well the GPs sure like telling me there's a certain risk factor of death from HRT, but it's not really death from HRT is it - it's the increased risk of death from organ failures, strokes, high BP, heart disease, liver complications etc. that testosterone fails to protect against (or slightly exacerbates). The hormone itself isn't known for killing anybody.

So I'm not seeing my odds of keeling over go up much provided I take care of myself in other areas and don't abuse the gear. The lower life expectancy of men compared to women is probably more due to a) more risk-taking (or dumb) behavior or b) more men doing more physically dangerous or detrimental professions on the whole than anything significant to do with their hormonal make-up.

I haven't felt better in decades since HRT to be honest. I feel like I'm 19 all over again.

That may or may not explain the average lifespan of men, but women own the top ten oldest people list. There's not a man on it. Surely there'd be one smart bloke that never put his finger in a light socket or smoked cigarettes that would crash that list?

I don't know how true this is, but there's supposed to be an Indonesian dude who's pushing 145 according to a newspaper, born in 1870 (148). I'm a bit skeptical of the numerical details, but he sure looks ancient.

I think women just take better care of themselves in general too. They seem to think more about their bodies and check stuff out more, they go to the doctors more often and don't tend to hold off till they're practically dying of something like guys do before they'll go see a doc (guilty). I suppose there could be all sorts of reasons.

If it's a blood clot that worries you, that risk was associated  with Premarin (which I hope no one is taking for any reason anymore) and the types used in birth control pills.   The risk with estradiol is practically nil and the warnings are only there because of the other drugs.

In 3 months I will have been on Estrodial Valerate for 20 years without a break!  That is a hell of a lot of sharp needles I've jabbed into my buttocks over the decades!

At age 53 I have no health concerns. I am healthy, happy, and full of energy and vitality.

And seriously, let's face it, we all must die of something, no exceptions.  When I'm done acting a fool on this planet, I plan to leave this body behind anyway. Amen and pass the syringe!
