It's nice to find a group like this one that meets my SO's "seal of approval"!

SSIA I guess... I'm 35 and I have been at it for years, I started at age 5. I've resigned myself to being JACD and that works just fine for me. I have been married for 7 years, my SO has known for the last 2 years and has only gotten to a comfort level in the past year.

I "awoke" several years ago after a 12 year "nap"... I purged in 1993 after a couple years of living what seemed like a dream. I had just begun my road of discovery and was in the beginning stage of transitioning when I pulled the plug before I could pursue HRT and purged. In the 12 years that followed, i met a woman, fell in love, settled down, started a career, got married and yet lived a tormented life in hell! I came out to my wife in 1999 and told her that it was "all in the past" but little did I know that the facade I had built was crumbling around me... 4 years later, I was a mess... Drug and alcohol dependant, unemployed, on the brink of losing my marriage and suicidal. Coming to grips with myself and having an understanding SO has helped me turn my whole life around.

Anyway, that's my story.

Thank you for sharing your touching story Rachel.

Welcome to Susan's Place...which she has been so kind to share with all of us. I'm Leah's SO. We have been married 25 years this June. Leah shared her secret with me the summer of 2000. I must agree the comfort level of these issues kind of does have to grow on one.

Take a minute to read over the site rules and have a look around. You'll find many useful areas which contain a tremendous amount of information.

Enjoy reading the posts and share where you feel comfortable and Start your own as well when you feel the need.

Also have your wife share with us in the S.O.'s Forum too.
We can always use a few more of us around. Also I'll invite you both to join us in the Chat Rooms too. There are some very friendly people that hang out here at Susan's so just make yourself to home. Both of you.

I'm looking forword to getting to know you both more in the future.

Smiles,
Peggiann

Hi Rachel,

Welcome to Susan's. Sounds like you went through a pretty rough patch there for awhile. Having an understanding SO to help you through is rare. You are a lucky girl. I think you will find many here who share and can relate to your experience. Don't be afraid to post your thoughts on any topic or to start one of your own. There is much to read and learn about here. So fix yourself a cup of tea or other relaxing beverage, sit down, take your shoes off and set a spell.

Good Journey,

Cassie

Rachel:

Welcome! I am new here too. The purging is a very common behavior. It seems so "done" when everything is gone. Yet, cross-dressing is just an outward manifestation of the inner self. We all do it, purge that is, mentally or physically. An interesting item: in the Gnostic Gospel by Thomas, a passage attributed to Jesus says that, unless you bring forth what is inside you, it will destroy you. You know the truth of that for sure!

You are among friends here, from what I have seen. Welcome, and let the inner light shine in the world.

Hugs,

Karen

Of the four major purges in my life, the last one hurt the most... I had a lot of money invested in clothes and shoes and stuff. Several thousand dollars worth if my estimation is correct.

I hope my wife will be joining this forum, I don't know if I really want that though. She read my Introduction message and was thrown for a loop about the transitioning. She says I never mentioned it but I was sure that I had. There are still little things that surface now and then, just minor details in my eyes but important stuff for her. It's a process of discovery for both of us and we still have a long way to go yet.

But I'm glad to be among friends... thanks for the Welcome!

I tried to get my wife to join a couple of times.  She has refused each time, says she will never join.

Hi Welcome to susans
Happy to hear that your SO is so supportive. She may not want to sign up at Susans but there are other support groups many are GG genitic girl only. Lots of SO links found at https://www.susans.org/Significant_Others/ she may want to browse around and find something that fits her style.

Jilleann i have been wondering what the Plus means in "CD Plus"?
I am a plus but in my case that would refer to size. ;) :D

By CD Plus, she means that she is a woman in a male body that chooses to not transition, but still crossdresses.  I'm pretty sure either she or Lisabeth made that one up.

Your right Melissa. I don't know if Lizabeth or I started it . But I am more than just a cross dresser as you said. I am woman who is in a man's body but right now i'm not willing to transition phyically for reason that have to do with my family.  I believe I can make peace with this male body. But I'm still working on it.

A Cross-Dresser: The term cross-dressing denotes an action or a behavior, without attributing or proposing causes for that behavior. Some people automatically connect any cross-dressing behavior to gender dysphoria, and sometimes to sexual, fetishist or even see it simply as a means of coping with homosexual feelings. Trangender people are often offended when they see motives being attributed which may or may not be applicable to themselves. This is a misunderstanding as cross-dressing itself does not imply any motives.

I'm not  sure about Lizabeth but this is me, GID: Gender identity disorder as identified by psychologists and medical doctors is a condition where a person who has been assigned one gender (usually at birth on the basis of their sex, but compare intersexual) but identifies as belonging to another gender, or does not conform with the gender role their respective society prescribes to them.

This information is from Wiki pages.
So it might be better to say I'm a GID CD.

Aren't you gald you ask Kate.

I was thinking about this post earlier.

Here's the definition of a transsexual from the Wiki:
A transsexual (sometimes transexual) person establishes a permanent identity with the opposite gender to their assigned (usually at birth) sex. Transsexual men and women make or desire to make a transition from their birth sex to that of the opposite sex, with some type of medical alteration (gender reassignment therapy) to their body. The stereotypical explanation is of a "woman trapped in a man's body" or vice versa, although many in the transsexual community reject this formulation. For the exact wording of formal medical definitions, see gender identity disorder.

Since you are not establishing a permanent identity as the other gender, By using only the classic definitions, I would consider you transgendered.  I know it's used as an umbrella term, but since you don't quite fit under crossdress, I would move to the more generic term.  Besides, it's fun to keep people guessing. ;)
