Hmmm, I have always wondered, why are the Australian, Canadian, and American national days of celebration in the hottest time of the year?      Difficult to get into the celebration spirit when you are being roasted alive.

..... I have been known to brush the snow off of the outdoor grill and cook burgers and chicken, even in the dead of winter!!!   Lots of fun for sure.

BBQ and rain...I grew up in New Zealand where it hasn't stopped raining for 200 years....I can remember having BBQ at home in the winter (Bottom of the south Island of NZ) with my father standing in the back yard in the pouring rain with an umbrella, whilst we all watched from the warmth and comfort of the family room....we were dedicated to our BBQ's that's for sure LOL

Dear Liz: 
In early January I was  in NZ...in Dunedin overnight (mmm, mmm, Cadbury Chocolate factory tour)... and it never stopped raining, but then we headed to the North Island to Auckland and it got a lot warmer and dryer for sure...

... but not as hot as Sydney and Cairns in Eastern Australia were a week later in January during their summer heat wave... 100 plus degrees  (38 deg C)  So very hot and humid in Cairns.   I enjoyed the trip but it was nice getting back to Alaska in the January winter here.

UPDATE:  Wednesday night,  July 11, 2018

I am finally getting some time to post my July 4th Holiday potluck picnic that I hosted.
I had invited more, but about 12 friends and clients showed up for hamburgers, hotdogs, smores, potato salad, chips and dips, etc.  Included some of the employees at the coffee shop and some of my friends... and a couple clients.  It turned out to be an all day event... burgers at noon time when folks were arriving then later toward evening we roasted hotdogs and made smores.


More updates coming... I promise I won't make my readers and followers wait so long for the next one.

Thank you so much, Danielle, for your 4th of July update! You look fabulous! Do I notice some tan? I guess all the summer outdoor activities help with that. The orange hairband looks great on you!

Just looking at the burgers makes me gain pounds left and right.

So glad you had so many friends and clients join you for a lovely day of fun. I am sure it was exhausting for you to prepare all the food and host all the guests.

Danielle, thank you for your update and photos from your 4th July get together. Love seeing that big smile of yours.

The BBQ burgers are making me hungry and the s'mores are making me jealous. My wife made me some s'mores for the first time last time we were in Canada. Mmmmm, yummy! Good thing suitable crackers/cookies are not available here otherwise I would not be able to resist eating them all the time. That wouldn't be good for my figure. [emoji16]

Please don't make us wait so long for future updates. Your readers and fans have been getting restless in the popcorn gallery.
