And a happy new year!

Its a bit brisk here - about 30 degrees (F) but its very peaceful out on the deck.  The sun is coming up, the birds are singing and our rafter of wild turkeys just went past between the deck and the creek. (don't worry, I had to look it up) I got some real expensive coffee yesterday, and with a little Irish Cream and some California Christmas Green I'm getting into that holiday mood.  I do love this time of the day, Xmas or not.

So I'll go in and turn on all the lights, put on a little Nat King Cole and read Dickens, like I do every Christmas, and wait for my GF to get up so we can open presents.

Here it was a full moon a little brisk out but not freezing, green grass. If for no other reason I am happy to have moved here to Vancouver BC. There's actually plants that still have green leaves on them. Any way I'll be glad to get past January because it will start getting warm again in February. Well you all have a;

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. I got up early this morning, cause the dog wanted out of all days. I, too, got a nice cup of coffee while waiting for Pat to get out of bed. Not freezing but cold with some frost on the roof tops. Just nice and quiet outside. I didn't go outside but I'm looking through my window. Read the paper, lots of after Christmas ads. Just mellowing out until my daughter and her family come over. She should be here about noon or so. Will open presents then. Just thinking about all my Christmas's before, kind of reflecting on how life has changed for the better.

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all!

Marcy and I woke up at 6:30 am to the tune of doggies needing to pee, and 3 rambunctious grandsons ready to raid the living room and open presents.  Nice family time, all happy.  Kiddies, mother and father, grandma and Ms Papa all tired.
My presents from Marcy this year were tagged: From Marcy to Beverly.  I saved one of the little tags as a keepsake, and consider that gift enough in itself.  Now, I'll make us a pot of tea, and we shall retire for the night, in new nighties and slippers.

Hi Beverly, I envy you. if there is anything I don't miss more in life, that is children and other members of the family around at Christmas. Had a tear or two running down my cheeks while reading your post. I was fortunate though. I had 11 children go under my roof through the years, good memories.

I wish you and all who read this a Merry Christmas and a Wonderful 2008!

Having a Christmas that belongs to you and your partner alone is a singular pleasure.  I should know.  In 25 years of marriage all I ever begged for was 15 minutes with my partner, just the two of us, to exchange whatever little gifts or good wishes and I never got it.  God alone knows why. 

With the second ex I never gave anything as personal as lingerie and all I wanted was time alone before she woke her mama, her grown sons, their wives, and the 5 grandkids.  That went on for 15 years.

Ex #1 just didn't believe that we could have any sort of Christmas celebration in our own home.  It always had to be back home with mom and dad and the rest of her siblings.  I endured that for 10 years.

This year my Christmas is with Cindy and we're finding our way to our own traditions and I love it!
