Anyone with details on zero depth procedure?

I have found documents and videos online about differing methods used for penile inversion and colon type but I have not seen a video or a document explaining what is done in the zero depth method. I have read that it supposedly requires less time under anestetia ect. I am just curious how they do it. For now I'm lucky to be getting an orchi done but someday... I'd like to see if peritoneal vaginoplasty becomes more common in use but might look at zero depth sooner rather than later.

From what I've read, and from speaking to a surgeon, it's essentially the same as a PI procedure, just without the creation of the vaginal vault and lining. Yes, it's quicker and has less recovery time.

It's the same basic surgery even to the point of creating a shallow (1-2 inch) vagina. This is necessary in order to create the correct external appearance. The primary advantage is faster recovery and no need for dilation. Surgical time is around half an hour less as much of the time is spend creating the correct external appearance.

I had a partial or zero depth GCS last September performed by Dr. Ley in Scottsdale. It is as Dena suggested; about a half to three quarters of an hour less time in surgery and according to my OB/GYN and electrologist, the looks are the same as any other women they work with. My biggest joy with it all is the simpler healing and no dilation.

On a side note, are the electrolysis requirements "down there" the same for zero depth as with normal PI?

After spending hours and hours in a chair at Electrology 2000 and hearing screams more appropriate to a Turkish prison (as I understand them), I was pretty sure I didn't have the will, or pain threshold, to make all that happen.

Better with ZD? Different?

That is a question for your surgeon. I had full on GCS which didn't require any electrolysis down there and the hair isn't where it shouldn't be. Different procedures use the skin differently and that determines if and where you need hair removal.

Thanks for the info everyone. I'm hoping by the time I have the finances to do anything that more SRS surgeons will have experience in the peritoneal vaginoplasty. If not zero depth could still be an option for me. It would be a long term thing but zero depth for the start and then look to another to do the peritoneal part. Would be two surgeries and be spaced apart of course. I'm not certain about the dialation requirements and limited self lubrication of penile inversion and not wanting colon based for sure. Course I could change my mind if I ever have the cash in hand to actually get it done.
