Hmm, May be interesting, as bred just south of Manchester, worked on Tyneside in shipyards on training before they closed and got a hard accent there - needed to, in order to go to the' Gordie Lad' pub (got a GF there -she told me not to talk at all... Entering the car park there was a warning in letters on the ground, very intimidating at the time) etc without getting into fights.. - That was the first city I went to that had double bouncers on the doors (early 1980s). Universities in Coventry, Stoke and then Manchester (separate courses) and now in Derby for almost a couple of decades (I cook oatcakes but don't call people 'Duck' though), as most people I work with are Japanese. Polish, Indian, German, Swedish, Scottish, Welsh or French (where are the Americans and the English?), so don't have time to get a regional 'twang' anymore.
