So, any of you getting edema from T?

Hi All,

I am on IM T since september, 2017 (will be 8 months tomorrow!). I had lots of cool changes and I am happy with my transition so far... but one thing really bothers me from the very beginning and I have not found a solution yet, so I am asking for advice. I have already talked to my endo about this, so I am not seeking medical advice (as usual) but for experiences from You all. I'd like to know if I am the only one having this!

The days after my injection, i get edema on my eyelids, and under my eye. It gets to my left eye more than my right one. It's painful sometimes, and sometimes it's just unaesthetical. I know IM T can lead to edema as an unwanted effect. But it really focuses on my eyes (80% of it, at least). I'd like to know if some of You had experienced this and how did You manage it. My endo says that if it really bothers me we can try to switch to gel which is something i would try to avoid since i suffered from reactive and dry skin in the past and i fear it could be too muchh for my skin (plus, it's not so practical.....).

Did some of you experience this? can this be a mixture of sinusitis and edema, or a sinusitis caused by edema? i have no mucus and no secretions from my nose, so, i don't think it is, but still i am asking.

I will go to my GP tomorrow, anyway.

I use gel so I can control the level of T precisely enough to avoid edema but I did get it at one point at the beginning while we were figuring out what my "limit" was before it would happen. If you inject, there's not much you can do to avoid it other than altering the dose and frequency of injections to lower the amount of surplus T in the system, or seeing if the body is still just getting used to it.

I don't remember getting it near the eyes but always seemed to go for the areas where there was body fat under the skin. There's nothing you can do about edema under the eyes apart from put something cold there. Eye edema is definitely linked to sinusitis, I used to get that, but never as a response to excess T, I just have crap sinuses in general. Puffy eyes follows from sinus infections, the eye socket is linked to the nasal passages and sinuses directly and indicates internal inflammation. However a full blown sinus infection will feel like a horse kicked you in the face. If it's just swelling with minimal discomfort it might well be just the excess estrogen conversion from the T.
