Hi Angélique,

Terms of coverage are not by state, they are determined by who is buying the plan, i.e. what your husband's company has negotiated with BCBS.  You should be able to find this out easily by looking up the plan brochure for your husband's company.

With kindness,

Hi Angelique, it comes down to the policy you're going to enroll in, not the insurance company.

Your best bet is find an LGBTIQ clinic and let the facilitators there arrange for your care. They know how to code tests and hormones so it doesn't appear as transgender care and the insurance company covers it. As far as GRS, if there's any way it can be covered, they'll have it figured out. Also try local LGBTIQ support groups, they might direct you to friendly medical providers.

I live where all insurance covers GRS, it still cost me $12,500. You need to save up just in case. I  was not going to be denied what I wanted simply because someone else wasn't paying for it.

Hugs, Devlyn
