Ear & Nose Hair - How Best to Deal With This Problem

Hi Everyone,                    17 May 2018

For many years I have been blessed with weed patches in my ears and nose. I have tried plucking, cutting, waxing; the stuff keeps coming back rapidly. I haven't been on HRT and post orchie long enough, 1 1/2 month HRT, 1 month 4 days post orchie. Haven't noticed a slow down of the hair problem. Was thinking of trying "Roundup" but I'm afraid it might be too potent (CONSUMER ALERT - Roundup is TOXIC to anything living).

Suggestions please.

You shouldn't give Roundup a bad name. From the Roundup web site.

The original Roundup® herbicide allowed farmers to kill almost every weed that emerged from the soil, thus decreasing the need for tilling to control weeds and suffering soil erosion in the process. This Roundup® product also seemed to be the perfect environmental solution at the perfect time. It was found to decompose into natural products — carbon dioxide, phosphoric acid, and ammonia — and was also found to be safe for humans and wildlife. Environmentally speaking, the original Roundup® herbicide proved to be one of, if not the safest, herbicides in history.

That said, I am still not going to test the statement.

It could take up to a year for hair growth to settle out but i don't think your going to see a difference in your nose or ear. I have one hair that grows out of my ear and it's still there. My nose hair has never been obvious but it's still there. I think you will need to look into nose hair trimmers and use it frequently. Ears can be covered with long hair so start growing.

How about electrolysis? Should work for ears, not sure about nose.

I don't think I'll be a "testin" it either. That said, in all my efforts in engineering and Arbor Culture, I have come to the conclusion that anything that kills living stuff has to be toxic else stuff wouldn't die.

I can guarantee I won't be using roundup for eye, ear or nose drops. I remember in 1981 the director of the California Conservation Corps swallowed a mouthful of diluted Malathion just to prove how safe it was. I wonder if anyone from Monsanto would try that same experiment with roundup.

Funny you should mention it, I just happen to have an Ear, Nose & Brow Wet/Dry 2-Head Trimmer still in the package sitting on my desk partially opened. I bought it about a month ago from WallyWorld. I would have tried it by now except for the fact I haven.t been able to get the package open with conventional explosives. I'm going to attempt to open it with my miniature Fat Man plutonium package opener. I don't know what kind of plastic they used for the package; it's so strong Superman can't open it. I think they spend more on the package than the stuff inside.

I might try a bolt cutter for grade 8 bolts if fat man can't get the job done.

Tried Fat Man, didn't get it open but it did leave a nice green after glow. Went to the shop and got the bolt cutter; got it open but now instead of a five piece unit it's now a 10 piece.

Tried it after gluing all the pieces together; seems to work ok but I can't figure out what it does with the hair it cuts. Who cares, the cleaning people will get it on their bi-annual house cleaning.

It's kind of noisy, especially when it encounters hair.

Didn't I mention something about keeping normal hours. I was going to start that yesterday and it's already tomorrow.

The net, net, it seems to work better than scissors.

If I had known I was going to have to do all these grooming chores, I'd have stayed home.

What caused me to search for that titbit was my mother said the first commercial for Roundup involved a man drinking it. Instead of turning up the commercial, I found the link.

I keep a box cutter around with a fairly sharp blade in it. You have to be very careful with a box knife when doing something like that because it's easer to cut you than it is to cut the package.

Welcome to Susan's Place; I'm not an official greeter, just a member. I thank you for your suggestion, If a petrol strimmer is what I think it is, I'll let someone else try it first. I've thought of a torch but that wouldn't be safe for my Dogs; I might cause a fire and they wouldn't have a place to sleep.

The way things work around here, my three Dogs get the pick of sleeping spots and I get what's left; that's either the couch or floor. Sometimes they will let me have a small space in bed if I whine enough and bark a bit.

They treat me well; they bring me rabbits, squirrels and an occasional cat.

Now we equestrian types like Roundup because it doesn't kill the horses if they eat a little grass with Roundup on it.  Still be try to keep it away from the horses too. 
I am thinking that a kitchen torch might work or Agent Orange.

Dena's suggestion of nose trimmers sounds a little safer but much less savoir fair.

I don't have ear hair, or if I do they're fine, thin, and few... I have my spouse look for me though just in case.

Nose hair... Mine are dark, and once in a blue moon one might decide to look around outside.  I pluck the crap out of them long before thats allowed to occur.  In fact I'm a firm believe in plucking anything you can lol.  Habitual nervous plucking can also lead to baldness of affected area... so I'm going to nervously habitually pluck any hair I deem unworthy!

If you are going to pluck nose hairs, prepare to utilize antibiotics. The nasal cavities harbor lots of bacteria, and if it gets into the blood, it can cause a nasal infection. I should know. I had it happen several times. You might want a tube of Bactrim around just for that, if you can get a prescription for it.

Hm true, that's a good point... though nothing like that ever happened (yet).  Still I'm aware of it as a possibility, as ya you do sniff in lots of nasty lil things.  As a matter of fact thats one of the purposes of the dastardly nose hairs and the mucous lol.  Glad you made a point of it though

The nice ladies at the laser clinic zapped them (their idea, not mine).  Laser worked just fine.  bye bye ear and nose hair...  Not sure if it was the best idea, but the laser techs went for it with the Diode Laser and no hair issues since.

I tried sugaring in my nose and, it was not all too painful and lasted me almost two months.  Normally I have to "weed wack" about once a week or so with a microtouch groomer device

I applied it in the "nasal cavity" with a chopstick after it cooled down as much as it could with still being sticky. 

Once sugaring is dry, its like rock hard. 

Only downside was I did this before this past spring and any pollen had no filters before going up my nose.  Every time I sneezed it smelled like sweet flowers, which was not a bad thing - but strange when my smelled it and thought I had the most wonderful smelling sneeze she ever smelled. 

Also, if you use a bowl/dish to make the sugaring and the rest dries up,  just add some more water to it and put it in the oven on 350 for about 15 minutes and it will turn back into sugar water for easy clean up.

I hope your avatar is of your pet kitty. Whoever she/he is, they are as cute as can be.

I have been using a Wahl wet/dry trimmer. It works fine but isn't as "purrfect" as some of the other methods, but easier on a daily basis.

Yes, very true!  We also need those hairs to help warm, humidify, and filter contaminants from the air before it enters our lungs.

I've had many sessions of electrolysis to get rid of ear hair. Nose hair I pluck every night, the ones that I see and can get at. I've never had a problem that requires antibiotics however.
