How very sad. I read a piece not long ago that talked about Iran's acceptance of our community both legally and the medical help available.

The one concerning part i read is that the original edict was also designed to make sure there were no gay or queer people in Iran. If you expressed who you were in that respect, it sounded as though they almost forced you to transition.

It sounds like its up to the government to crack down on bullying there.

It often seems like the educated elite is better accepting of lgbt than the society.  I know the Ayatollah Khomeini was kind to transpeople and believed that they should be able to transition.   After him, I've read that Iranian leaders often force gay men into having srs whether they want it or not.

its actually sad, I know I dont know a whole lot about the general culture in the middle east, but I guess its a lot like the catholic faith also (maybe less physical in the open beatings) but even when the Pope said to accept us, people as well as whole sects are still "burn them".

The whole Idea of LGBTQI+ is far from a new idea, but people as a whole have been sweeping it under the rugs (so to say) forever, I know the proactive feminist in me whats to take to the streets, but right now that wont help, not really.
If life is too short for what ifs, than way do they always strike at the worse times.

Most people are worried about burning bridges, but forget about the consistent fire that burns on the roads we walk

I kind of take a long view of things.  Iran and Russia are where the West was 50 years ago with regard to lgbt rights.  In the long span of history that is not much time.  I've noticed that non-western lgbt people seem to be organizing much more than a decade ago.
