I've had an unusual kind of male fail happen a few times lately.  I present non binary for the most part. I also don't get on people to use feminine pronouns even though it's a strong preference for me.

When interacting with servers, cashiers, etc., They will use male pronouns when speaking directly to me but use female pronouns when talking about me to others.  The cashier will call me "sir" during the transaction but turn the the bagger and say " can you put her bags in her shopping cart".  I can tell they are in no way trying to be disrespectful to me. It's totally not prompted.  I guess they kind of view me as male but female at the same time?

I'm not complaining!  I get total male fail by people passing by just saying "hi" etc, a little more than half the time yet when I'm involved in more of an interaction, I'm getting mixed reviews.

That is an interesting interaction.  Maybe the checker was just covering for themselves after realizing "oops this is a woman".
I just had an interesting male fail myself.  The Hispanic workers in our backyard didn't realize I understood Spanish and I overheard one say to the other "él se ve como una mujer" (he looks like a woman).

Made me smile! Jessica 💁‍♀️

Girl that's awesome! And I didn't know you understood Spanish! How come I learn more about you through your posts than through our Whatsapp conversations? LOL. O sea podríamos hablar en español? @Jessica

Lo entiendo a una velocidad que es más lenta de lo que la mayoría habla, y a veces se necesita pensar un poco. Tenía cinco años de escolaridad cuando era más joven y no la uso demasiado.
