HRT What to expect at 19

Hi everyone, so I'm still extremely paranoid about how I will turn out starting HRT. I'm 18 now and just been put on the waiting list for a clinic on the nhs and from the waiting times I'll be 19 by the time of my first appointment. I posted a makeup picture on a previous thread and everyone said I'd pass but I'm starting to doubt myself more and more. Honestly I'm angry that I didn't just take the time to accept I was trans when younger as the few loved ones I have are supportive.

I suppose my question is what changes are to be expected fm HRT at this age as it's past puberty but not fully developed. Will the chance of me passing still be fair? (I know passing is subjective as we are women).

An additional question not related but when growing up I had thoughts of been a girl but had so much other crap happening that I never put too much thought into it. Now I'm aware I'm a woman in a man's body I find it harder to look at myself but this seems to have worsens from the point of accepting it. Is this common?

Starting hormone therapy in your teen years is the ideal time. A year or two late is no big deal. Many of us started later in life. For myself I started when I was 64 years old.

Older transitioners will need more feminizing surgeries which the younger transitioners can often do without.

For your second question about acceptance, yes it is very common. They don't call our condition a dysphoria for nothing. At too many times some of us are driven to risky or suicidal behavior. Transition is not a choice. We are driven to do what we need to do in order to relieve the dysphoria.

As I have said several times before, self acceptance is the most important thing we need to do.

I had those same childhood desires and wish I would have transformed at your age, but I waited around and got too far into life. I started at 23 and have B cups. You will distribute fat differently, develop breasts, and develop female attributes both physically and emotionally, I agree with the post above. Self acceptance is what's most important. You have to resize that you will still have facial hair and other mail attributes without laser/ electrolysis and surgery naturally. You're at a better age for this than 90 percent of the women on here so you will do great!

Honestly, as long as I have breasts i don't care how big they are, I'm just worried facially and the rest of my body

I definitely intend to get laser as I have darker hair however, personally, I'm not a fan of cosmetic surgery at all.

You'll be fine. It seems like anyone under 25 years old benefit the most from HRT.
Latina :) I speak Spanish, English and a bit of Portuguese.

Starting at 18 is really positive :)

Expect sore breasts/nipples as they develop. Fat redistribution around your hips and on your face. Softer skin and body hair. Male genitals should shut down entirely to the point no sperm is produced. Also mentally you should feel more at ease as your body aligns itself with the notions of dysphoria you experience.

Same here with the cosmetic surgery, but don't worry on the breasts, you're at a great age to get great results!

In fact you are in your teens until 21 and pelvic bone widens until you are 25
So you can easily turn into a beautiful woman with woman curves without needing any surgery. Besides hrt will work better on you, more boobs, but etc. Don't worry you are sooo young, I started at 27 and wish I had done it at 19 since hrt at my age haven't done nothing or minimum

Thanks everyone, what about facially though? Do you think there is chance of passing without makeup? not that I have a problem with wearing it or anything just for those days you dont have time for dat lol.

TsukiCat, you can expect fat distribution to your face, that will soften your features but your bone estructure will be the same as it is now, the only way to soften bone structure is facial feminization surgery. There is no pressure as long as you fine your fat distribution nice but think that with age that fat face will be gone so maybe invest in facial feminization is a good choice for everygirl who has passed puberty. I talk in general I don't know your features and some needs a little tweaks and other the full ffs package.

Oh so does that mean if I don't get ffs as I get older I'll start to look like an older man rather than woman. That really buns me out as I'm really not into cosmetic surgery

Getting "older" doesn't just happen over night, girl. You just gotta do what you feel is best for you. I know I mess up a lot and this past weekend my hair wasn't an exception... it's not fun, but I know it's my attitude that drives this insecurity.
Yes it matters what others think of us sure. But I think when I care too much is when I need to pull away for a while and figure out what's best for me.

Hi Allisson. I know it's not an overnight thing thank God, I was just curious as far as our  aged looks go de we sort of revert back to a masculine old age?
