I've recently been going on the 4chan LGBT board, and find it extremely hostile. I try in earnest to discuss the relation between crossdressing & genderfluidity, but I am requited with a veritable tsunami of the vilest kind of pejorative. The keep calling me a hon, whatever one of those might be; and the consensus of opinion seems to be that I am a mangry hon, and that I ought to post on this forum instead.

I don't know whether this is or not a good place for someone who is regarded on the 4chan LGBT board as a mangry hon; but I have looked around, and it appears on the face of it to be forum on which I could post to some avail.

To be perfectly honest I know what 4chan is like - it's a bit of a jest I'm making that I'm quite that innocent; but I am genuinely dismayed at all this business that goes on over there of separating people into hons & other categories, & the sheer savagery of it all.

Yes, it probably does say something about the state of the public mind. But many people write in, both in reply to my protests at the savagery, and to those of others, and say that it's purely a web phenomenon. I wish I could believe that; but it must reach to the outside world to some extent, because people will read the posts in there and go away with ideas in their mind that they have gotten from there, as is the whole raison d'être of it! And I'm not saying that I'm not posting there anymore, because I am willing to push a stout argument, and I think it's important that those who are making the place a running sore not be let to have it all their own way.

Anyway, I will declare myself as male, as I am native male and have not undergone any transitioning, & pribably never shall. But I passionately believe - and act out - that men ought to be utterly free to broach any accessory or style of affect. I believe that the fencing-off of certain styles - the ones labelled feminine - is a relic of savage primitive behaviours & ought to be utterly overthrown. This ought to become clearer in due course as I post more. I have been taught on 4chan (I don't dismiss it just because it is from there, and it chimes with what I have been taught elsewhere) that transgender people often object really quite passionately to such as myself identifying with them, so I'll refrain from doing that. I'll call myself something else. I actually think metagender is a good word that fits quite well.

Acrimonious and irrational hate-filled dialogue restricted to just the internet? Really?

No-holds-barred, kill the enemy attitudes are rampant, even out of control.

If we are going to survive as a species, something is going to have to change.

I fortunately when I was with 4chan I didnt have words yet for who I truly am. ->-bleeped-<- is slightly better but a big forum like that is still bound to have toxic waste. From being here for awhile this place is like very welcoming and very friendly. They dont tolerate hate openly you are safe here for the most part

I very much appreciate your consoling me about that! Please don't misunderstand though: ploughing into all that was something I did of free choice. In the other hand ... it could well be said that I'm driven by a bit of a compulsion - it just gets me on my mettle when the onslaught comes my way, and I kind of can't help myself! And I'll probably do it again ... and again.

But you do have to be careful - for real! You think you've rationalised it - drilled yourself to thinking "it's just an exchange of words" ... and then you find out that it's gotten under your skin somehow: you might snap at someone, for instance when you wouldn't otherwise have done; and someone who knows me particularly well was recently able to truly discern it in my mood. She asked me a number of times what it was that had affected me, and I thought "it just can't be showing through - I must have ringfenced it sufficiently" ... but it was showing through and I hadn't ringfenced it sufficiently! So I do very much heed your cautions.

And also that on there it's the norm, whereas in real-world it's more just a hot-spot here & there. I think there is a truth in what they're saying: it just escalates to a new league on a forum designed, as that one is, to be a superhighway for whatever craziness the participants in it might happen to fancy. I think people were making true obvservations when they said things like "out in the real world the [whoever] are friendly & reasonable, but on here they seem to be hate-berserkers", or something to that effect.

Sure. I get what you mean. I'm just astonished about how much that attitude has bled into what used to be considered relatively civil arenas. Politics is more chaotic then I've ever seen or even imagined. The name calling, the open hatred, the simply bizarre has become commonplace. Even Facebook feeds are full of hate and intolerance. I can't say if this hate has always existed under the surface, or if it's just the margins crowding in and being heard. It is certainly chaotic.

Among the guidelines is you can discuss gender variations but your not permitted to diagnosis another. The reason for this because the only one who has sufficient information to determine if your transgender is you.

The term transgender is very wide in it's definition as it includes anybody who is uncomfortable with their gender. It includes somebody who occasionally dresses as the opposite gender to somebody who has undergone a full transition. We have member from all over this spectrum and all are equal on this site. You might find our WIKI informative though I believe that there are additional categories that aren't included in the link.

As to the definition of 'transgender' - I heed you, that your definition is the definition on this site. You must have seen it though - transgender (as in having received medical intervention) people really strongly urging that others are interlopers on the title. Personally, I am not going to utterly ignore that just because I am on here. It's actually become somewhat of a habit with me to accomodate that view; and I also think 'metagender' is a perfectly valid word. But of course, we are actually the ones who are defining the terminology, aren't we? It feels like quite a priviledge, that - being one of those who are defining a terminology!

You were probably right the first time. This place is about as far from 4chan as possible, and I'm sure people at home there don't much like it here and knew exactly where they were sending you. They probably didn't think you'd like it.

I prefer to think of this place as the place to come to when your serious about finding true happiness as that is what I help others to find. What would make me feel happy isn't always the same thing that would make you happy but I am not going to force my view of the world on you. Instead, I am going to take the time to learn enough about you that I know how to help you. By now I have thousands of stories rattling around in my brain and some of them have taught me things I never imagined. This site is a beautiful place because of it's diversity so there is a place for everybody without remaking them in my own image.
