Hello,

I as just trying to scope out what it is like to be non binary in the transgender community at large. Is it confusing to some transgender people who transition from one gender to the other? Is it stigmatized? How do you know which bathroom to use in public ( I go with the one I've always been comfortable with).

Thank You,
Teren

I don't self identify as nonbinary but having a female alter and DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder) as a result of childhood trauma, I am unquestionably "Gender Variant." I have been a member at Susans since 2010, my female alter since 2017. It seems harder for transgender people who transition from one gender to another to conceive of the non binary than it is for cisgender folk. I was a long time member of Bigender.net and there is a great non binary community here. If I were looking for camaraderie and acceptance within the TG community, I would stick strictly to non binary circles.

It is likely my personality but my female alter and I both hit it off better with Female Assigned At Birth (FAAB) people, transsexual or non binary. Hands down we feel more accepted by the cisgender men and women in our lives than the local LBGT community. And more welcome on trauma and sexual abuse forums than any transgender forum.
