@Jessica,
@KathyLauren,
@Alasken DanielleMy dear friends! Thank you for your kind words.
For sure Kathy! How often do we really like our DL pictures? How rare is that!
Hi Danielle! Not destitute but when living on a fixed income, I can use all the help I can get. I just qualified for MFA so maybe I can recover that CT Facial expense. If not, no big deal. It's money well spent.
The Woolsey Fire in SoCal is 100% contained. I'm thankful for our Simi Valley Fire Department for managing to stop all the fires in Simi before they got out of control. I am surprised that the major fires went around us. Unfortunately all the surrounding communities took the full brunt of the fires. Oak Park and Thousand Oaks, (mountains to our west), Westlake and Malibu, (mountains to our south), Calabasas and Chatsworth, (Mountains to our east), suffered devastating losses.
The Camp Fire in Paradise NorCal is now 95% contained and suffered much more lose than SoCal. 84 dead with thousands still missing, 14,000+ homes lost. It's horrible to see whole communities of homes burnt to the ground and the trees around the homes still standing.
The new threat we face are the floods and mud slides from rain because of the burned out vegetation in our mountains no longer holding the soil in place. Everyone is bracing for the rains heading our way later next week.
It's going to be another nasty winter, possibly worse than last year because of the much larger fires we've had this year. This whole mess is certainly getting old.
Along with the TDOR's and mass shootings we've recently gone through, it's hard to remain positive when so many bad things are happening around the world. Thank God for the good things that happen.
Fighting to stay positive always,
Donica.
