Shaving After Vaginoplasty

So I am now at 8 weeks post-op! My Doctor said I can shave my genital hair a couple weeks ago, but I am afraid to do it! Afraid that I might hurt the incisions. Yes, I am pathetic, I know! 

Still however, I prefer to be clean shaven down there and I know that I must conquer my fears.

Certainly my new vagina is much tougher than I imagine, but I continue to baby it. This surgery saved my life and I just simply do not want to mess it up.

Has anyone had any problems from shaving down there after only two months post-op?

Violet,

I did shave down there a few months after surgery, but not very close to the incisions. Once any visible sutures are removed, you should have no problem. You definitely do not want to clip any sutures that need to be removed. Even if the sutures are the absorb able type, it is best to stay away from that area until the incision is fully healed.

Once the incision is healed, just be careful and gentle down there. You will need a mirror to see where you are shaving.  😀

All I've had is an Inguinal Bilateral Radical Orchiectomy; two days prior I had the Brazilian area waxed. Made the surgery easy without having to pre-shave. At about 6 months post op I plan to have the area waxed again. There were only two small incisions about an inch long, one on each side of the inguinal canal. They are completely healed so there shouldn't be a problem waxing the area. Nice thing is I get the female rate, which is almost $40.00 less.

In your case I think I'd wait for one year and the doctor's OK before I'd try waxing. I'd also suggest checking with friends that have their pubic area waxed. There are people that are good at it and there are some that make it uncomfortable. I only go to one lady that I trust here in the Dallas Fort Worth area. She does a great job and there is very little discomfort.

I clean shave. Post op I would not go near the incisions. There was glue for the anterior scars and fear of hurting anything near the vagina. So I shaved where I felt comfortable. In time the area healed and I just shaved, again, where I feel comfortable.

I was afraid to orgasm post op, at I think 6 or 8 weeks post op. I had a 12 week homework assignment from my doctor and achieved it at week 11. I was so afraid to hurt something. Just because you experiment down there it does not mean to go nuts and go all out. Take your time and do what feels right.

I am so sore down there that I don't see an orgasm happening for me for a long time. I do think about orgasm though. Over 2 years since I have had one!  ♥

Although my Dr. told me I could carefully shave (but be careful for, and don't come near, the stitches)  after probably 4 weeks or so, I didn't shave until 3 months post-op. I was to scared to harm the stitches.

I am going to have to wait too because I now have a bump on one of the incisions. Possibly it's from the panty liners rubbing around, at least that's the only thing I can think of except for an ingrown hair. Seems like these Vaginoplasties have Rollercoaster like healings with all the ups and downs. Still though, I am very happy and with no regrets. I just have to be more patient! ♥
