So, what did everyone do for New Years?

I went out to my usual haunt (it's a club, not too busy, plays 80's, alt, and gothy stuff). It was nice. I took a lot of pictures with my camera and video. I'm such a light weight when it comes to drinking, so I was pretty out of it by my 2nd beer. I also had some champagne! And made out with too many people...

It's good that I'm not going to upload the video. Wow am I ever a bad girl! I'm too much of a bar star, seriously. My yelling voice is weird, although, I sound really androgynous (I'm glad I don't sound like that everyday, but it was weird watching the video and not sounding girly but not sounding boyish, but somewhere in between). But, I had a lot of fun and a lot of my friends were out with me, both trans and not. There's a good mix of people that go, and it's good that I know a ton of people there, but I also met new people. So, I made a few new friends which is great. :)

So, it was a lot of fun and I didn't get home until 4-ish. And I'm glad that I didn't get sick, which was one of my goals, and the other goal was not to go home with anyone -- and I didn't, which was good. :)

But it's so weird that over time as my body has changed I've become very light weight with drinking (I have a lot of natal women friends who are as light weight as I am, so at least I'm not weird... it seems like women generally are for some reason). But, anyway, there used to be a time I could have much more without feeling it. I even ate before I went out. But, the good thing is that I'm really good with my limit, which is three drinks. Once I get to 4 or 5 I go from feeling fun and tipsy to sick. And being sick is never fun.

I was at work as a bar-flunky.
Then I was at work as a bar-flunky what too many people bought drinks for.
Then I was at home singing to Howlin' Wolf very loudly.

I had a mental meltdown and spent the night being talked out of killing myself. See Have you ever attempted suicide? for details if anyone is interested.

Hmmm...

Well I offended a large portion of a forum I count as my friends...

I chatted with a few friends who weren't having the best of nights...

I watched Fergie sing "Finally" on Dick Clark's show and cried my eyes out...

I broke my wife's heart by admitting that what I want most in 2008 is SRS...

They really should ban New Year's.

Hello Kate,

Don't know what forum you're refering to, but I have always enjoyed your posts. You took time out of you evening to help someone in need (thank you soo much too)...as for wanting SRS that is the goal of most of us; I am sorry your wife didn't take that news too well. I agree they should just ban New Year's...but then again...who knows what the future may hold for any of us...we might actually enjoy it at some point in the future.

Peace and love,

Went out to dinner with the fam

Went to a nice non alcoholic party afterwards for a couple hours

Came to a like blast from the past party where I saw a whole bunch of old high school friends, and we all drank and did the countdown there.

Lastly, went to my friends house with a couple adventures in between like hunting for food and stuff.  My car is still at my friends house haha, I'm slacking picking it up.  I'm busy resting today :D

No drunk driving occurred!  My friends girlfriend drove me home and drove us around when we had our mini adventures!

It was weird.  For the first time since I moved back to Cali I didn't have to work NYE.  It felt very strange, as the old adage for us was that we could do anything we want at work except be late or have NYE off.  So I took my SO to a huge sex positive event where the theme was Scheherazade at the Casbah.  So everyone was in harum outfits, and we had two belly dancing groups, one of which offed lessons, Arabic dance music, Middle Eastern food and too much Chandon sparkling wine.  At five am we piled into a rented bus and went up to Twin Peaks (the highest spot in SF) and watched the sun come up.  Only problem was it very cold in that I Dream of Jennie costume.  But it didn't feel right not working, however my SO was happy not have to be left alone.

Read email and chatted at Susan's.  There was nothing on TV.

Emery went to bed at 10 PM.  I made it to 10:30 PM.

Checked the newspaper this morning and, sure enough, 2008 arrived while we slept.

Did our estimated taxes and other end of the year financial stuff this morning.  Figured my IRA minimum required distribution for 2008.  (Yawn)

Made waffles and bacon for lunch with our new waffle machine.  Read a few pages, napped, and started dinner while watching Hawaii suffer at the hands of Georgia.  (17 - 3 in the 2nd quarter.  Still time for a turnaround.)

We conserved energy today and will go geocaching with a new friend in the morning after I have a work teleconference.

Not sure why New Year's is a holiday.

New Years (in one form or other) is about the oldest holiday in world, almost all cultures have one, this upcoming Chinese New Year is something like the 4,706 or so that they have counted.

I hung out at my moms house and I FINALLY...........FINALLY am kicking drugs and alcohol. I really need to do this since I am on HRT now and its not a good idea to be smoking wacky tabacky and drinking booze. I kept rationalizing it by saying I was "celebrating getting on HRT". :D I just forgot that you were actually supposed to STOP!! Well, that stopping point is now.

Reminded me of this...

"Were you here when the new millennium came?" Aurora asked.
"No," Gwydion said, "I must have been sixteen, I still lived with my parents then, in Horsham."
"I spent it in a park with some white lightning," Dave said, "it was pretty good fun from what I remember. Really cold though, I kissed this girl called Lindsey to warm her lips up."
   "Yeah right," Gwydion said.
"I did, and it was to warm her lips up. She had cold lips and they were blue and she needed a bit of warmth. I didn't even fancy her."
   "I believe you," Gwydion said.
"No really, I didn't fancy her. No one accepts that part of the story. I think she fancied me though." Dave slapped his thigh. So Gwydion, what about your Horsham millennium, Was it thrilling?"
   "It was actually."
"Blimey." Dave nearly stood up. "I was expecting you to say you had a horrid time."
"Just because I have horrid times now doesn't mean all my times were horrid. I used to have a lot of good times."
   "Before you met me?"
"I was different then. We went to a church hall and listened to songs that Dad's club had voted as the best of the millennium. There was a lot of Beethoven, and Steely Dan. We ate pork pies and drank beer and sort of danced and sort of talked and felt tingly that something new was going to happen. The planes were going to fall or the nuclear reactors melt, or we were going to live in some new techno utopia at the strike of twelve. It was giddy. Dad was happier then I've ever seen him. He really believed it was a new beginning." Gwydion smiled. "It was good. What did you do Aurora?"
"What?" Aurora had been trying to look through the grimy windows.
"What did you do for the millennium?"
"I lived in Germany then. I just stayed at home at watched the telly. I stayed up until four in the morning watching it all and reading. Next day I got up at eight and did just more of the same, but tireder."
"I did that new year's day," Gwydion said.
   "I just slept."

prepare yourself for my exciting new years eve.  I slept on my friends couch while they partyed it up.  Yeah I was to lazy to even get dressed up to go out and stayed in my pajamas all day.  I worked a double shift the day before and was still wiped.  My BFF did cook me steak and eggs in the morning though.  God I love that guy.  (Just a friend)  I am going to make this year the bestest ever   :D  I'm ever the hopeless optimist.

HAPPY NEW YEAR :eusa_dance:

PS remember we only get one chance to go around.
