Decapeptyl injections in London

I'm in the UK, none of the NHS GP practice in my catchment area are willing to enter into a shared care agreement with GenderGP. GenderGP are willing to prescribe Decaptyl privately but have insisted that I can't self inject and need to provide them with details of somewhere that will do it for me, a private hospital for example.

I've spent 2 hours today phoning around London private GP's and hospitals with no luck. Can anyone suggest somewhere in London that could do the injection for me please?

From the little I understand about Decapeptyl injections are long term and they require a special preparation with a special injection procedure. It's not something to be attempted by somebody untrained in the procedure.

Some larger grocery stores and pharmacies have nurses attached that can either take bloods or administer injections -  I had some blood drawn for a test at a sainsburys pharmacy a couple of years back,  that could be an option? X

Unfortunately the NHS monopoly and institutional discrimination makes obtaining any injectable HRT a challenge in the UK.

I am so sorry that your local NHSGPs have refused to sign SCA with GenderGP and that you are unable to have Decapetyl (Triptorelin) injected into you.

I am with GenderGP and thankfully my NHSGP has signed SCA with them and my NHSGP injects me. I am in Liverpool and I know of other Susans Members in the North and Midlands whose NHSGPs injects.

I hope you are soon able to have D/T injected or better still find a local NHSGP who is prepared to sign SCA with GenderGP AND who agrees to inject you.

I'm planning to visit CliniQ on Wednesday so fingers crossed.
Good idea about supermarkets and pharmacies, I tried my local ones and although they do injections its only available for stuff they sell. I've tried emailing customer services but the instore response seems pretty similar to the private GP's and hospitals and I can understand it.

I've also emailed GenderGP and suggested I would be willing to make the journey to Wales if they can do the injection. If thats my only option hopefully I can go onto the 6 month version fast as it's an 8 hour roundtrip.

I also have a discrimination claim open with NHS England and have verbally been told it's pretty common but most people just find a different practice. Shame I can't move... this might be the longer term solution.

I don't know yet.

CliniQ will do injections for people with a valid prescription, ID and the medication, including Decapeptyl, but I don't know if that meets GenderGP's requirements. I emailed them on Wednesday evening and have not received a response yet. They have already rejected my suggestion of travelling to them for the injection.

I am finding dealing with this stuff and the NHS really tiring.

I had the same problem a few months back and CliniQ is recommended by Gender GP so I don't think you'll have any problems.  A prescription from Dr Webberley is a valid, legal prescription so no less valid than one from any other NHS GP or doctor

I found with the NHS you have to really persevere.  Always be friendly but keep pushing - it took me three months to get agreement.  If you'd like any help on strategies or documents you can forward to your GP, drop me a PM and I'll do what I can to help

Thank you but I've given up on the NHS. It's taken 9 months to find someone willing to refer me to a GIC and she received a reprimand for doing so.

With my current practice I'm just not going to contact them or tell them I am trans so I can use it for a repeat prescription I need for something else. Having changed 5 times in 10 months it's enough, if I can get the medication privately I'm lucky enough to be able to pay for it.

Hopefully my official complaint will help improve things for someone else.

The prescription and medication arrived on Monday and I had the injection yesterday at cliniq. Cliniq seems really helpful and friendly, worth checking out if in London on a Wednesday.

CliniQ are no longer permitted to help people from GenderGP with injections, having queued for 2 hours I was turned away. 23/01/19. The nurse mentioned losing her job if she did the injection and indicated it was a directive from the NHS. I have just done the injection myself and it's not as difficult as it seems.
