how essential is facial hair removel before FFS?

while i am going to a new skin speciallists with medical grade lasers where i have to use specially made lignocaine ointment for pain management. i start this next month (the cheaper places were very inneffective) and have a max of 6 sessions (once per month) and the remainder killed with electrolysis.

I will test this ointment on my arm skin first to see if i have any reactions to the medication (dont want to damage the face).

the reason i am asking is i am thinking of paying for and scheduling my FFS surgery sometime in july - august next year and wondered if total hair removal is a must before ffs ? i have to schedule it then to try to avoid heyfever season, which affects me severly...

I don't think hair removal is required before FFS however you many not be permitted to shave for several weeks after surgery. I don't know exactly how long that would be but it's a question to ask your surgeon.

ah, good idea.. tho once i go i would of already had my six laser sessions 🙂 soo should be ok..

Doctor could care less if you have facial hair or not. All the doctor cares about is if you have $$ and doing a good job..

true, thinking about it.. soo true.. more for my peace of mind.. also want my cardio health to be improved a hell of lot.. and picking a time where heyfever doesnt strike me here... lolz

I had to stop HRT for three weeks as part of my FFS about a month ago. I had done six laser beard removal sessions prior and thought that my dark hairs were pretty much gone. To my surprise and dismay my mustache started to grow back, to the point where I needed concealer to go out. So I went back for another laser session just a few days ago, it was like one of my first with a lot of pain and burning hair. Ugh! I wonder if anyone else has experienced this when they stopped HRT for surgery? I hope this doesn't happen to you. 😉

I've been to about 10 laser sessions now over nearly 2 years. I still have dark hairs that come back. They are scattered but I still see them. I also have a scattering of grey hairs that I pluck when they have become thick from shaving them. Don't expect 6 sessions is enough, but congrats to you if it is.

laser hair removal is not magic. I think electro works better. Also consider the fact that your dark skin is a negative factor when it comes to lasers. Facial hair removal is not required for FFS

she has been doing this a long time, also fully supports and helps the trans community.. and is hired to train technicians around the globe. Grace wont train them if they are using anything other than american medical crade laser units.

her laser unit looks more substantional than anything i have seen.

my skin isnt actually all that dark.. my profile pic is a n extremem low light photo with a dim bedroom light

also a moderate amount of skin tan.. whoops..

I wasted 3 sessions at a place with some device they said was laser but resembled an IPL and was placed directly on the skin. The Dr. I go to now has a really powerful laser. She has to hold it a certain distance away and have steady hands to hit it all but it seems to really be thinning my dark hairs well. It has a gas bottle on the unit so maybe a CO2 or argon laser unit, not sure. Oh and this one does hurt a bit when it hits.

yup was advised gonna need pain cream.. tried it out.. holy hell but effective.. 🙂
