Is it normal to feel scared but excited when nearing the time to start hormones? I'm at the end of the meetings with the dr to start hormones and I feel like I should just keep being unhappy and waiting for death. Since it would be easier than transiting and telling my family what I'm doing and why.

Sorry if my grammar and spelling are bad thx for reading.

Hi LoveEnded  :icon_wave:

Welcome to Susan's Place  :)  Glad to have you here, join on in the fun

Yes it is normal to feel scared, nervous and excited about transitioning and it's okay to wait until you feel comfortable to come out to your family about it

There is no need to be unhappy, it is your life to live as you see fit and may it be a long and happy life for you

Here are some links to the site rules and stuff that we offer to all new members to help them along

Hi, LoveEnded.

Yes, it is totally normal to feel both scared and excited.  Scared because it means that, before long, you will have to come out to people and deal with their reactions.  And excited because you are finally starting on your journey to become yourself.

There is no reason why you should continue being unhappy.  Yes, coming out to family is stressful.  But there is a chance that they will accept you.  Even if they do not, you say you haven't spoken to them in years, so if they reject you, nothing much will change.

When faced with a choice of actions, go with the one that will make you happy.

It's normal before any major step in transitioning to feel a spike of dysphoria and doubts. Once you start HRT you'll feel much better trust me :)
