My Champion
Once when I was confronted
No comfort could I find
'Cept in dark recess, under plush
Consumed within the mind
Found after when the heart
Stood no longer in the light
A box by my own devise is forged
Hidden in dull sight
My hero did then call to aid
To champion my own protection
Standing steadfast in the line of sight
Of my eyes own pale deception
He stood there to the glares
Declaring himself true
Fielded all the questions
And attention toward him drew
If ever one may have seen,
Past his stoic and resolved stare
Would there suddenly be a shift and slight
More resolved, he would not care
Behind him lay the secret
Excuses designed to deceive
Me behind a door, in a cage
The excuses were for me
My hero stood guard for an age and a half
The stress of such endeavor
Rivaled him at last, and then
Saw his heart fade forever
One last ditch effort, protecting peal
In what confidence he could afford
He destroyed his own identity
Excuses behind board
He knew his life without his heart
Would be no life to live
So free his heart he did for me
Without consent to give
Scared, alone, and vulnerable
Disconnected though I am
He freed his heart, his heart was me
With his gift I now can stand
