I wonder when and if modern science will come up with a way to permanently prevent facial hair growth that avoids the pain (both physical and financial) of electrolysis and the ineffectiveness of laser.  Wouldn't a simple pill be wonderful?

That would be wonderful! Until then, I'm saving up for laser. My facial hair is my #1 dysphoria cause.

I agree. Personally, sometimes I even feel comfortable with having a wee wee. But the one thing that makes me hate my body the most is not looking like a female. I want to look like a female. And facial hair is one of the most disgusting things possible for me.

I cant understand why insurance companies will pay for a 30k sex change, that has a 15% fail rate, and that some transwomen regret having afterwards. Yet, won't pay for facial hair removal thats less than half of the price. And I have never heard one transwoman ever say they regret having facial hair removal.

I have heard that HRT can slow down facial hair growth in some people and some do experience thinning. Laser can also help, so the combination of those two things can slow it down a bit. After that, it's all about good shaving technique.

I tried using the best electric shaver in the world, and at its best it still doesn't compare to a plane old razor when it comes to how long it takes for stubble to become visible again. Though after the investment I'm going to keep trying to get the most out of the damn thing, it does work wonders on my legs.

I am with you on that...maybe a pill that makes it all drop out...or a once only treatment that meant if you removed a hair it stayed removed...I think the next best thing we will get is a laser that permanently destroys every hair follicle it zaps and those dormant follicles that are viable around it and are not reliant on the colour of the hair against the skin.

HRT helps because it makes the hairs thinner but if you have a thick beard then it takes awhile unfortunately it also does nothing about removing them.

Getting a clean shave is a nightmare. Last night before I went out, I shaved 4x in different directions, and then went over it again with an electric shaver... and I still couldn't get it 100% smooth and it lasted less than 4 hours. As for my legs... they're a mess with ingrown hairs from the last time I shaved and it is irritating the hell out of me that the hair has growing back. I tried sugaring my chest and bikini line... that gave me 90% success, one or two stray hairs here and there but better than shaving. The trouble is that it took the skin off my index fingers too. I tried a second batch to do my legs and this time wearing gloves... the stickiness destroyed 4 pairs of gloves but for some reason wouldn't stick to my skin or hair... so I gave up.

So next will be to get an epilator and try that (but not on my face). Laser costs too much for me and I am cursed with a red beard with stray white hairs. So there's a good chance it won't work on me anyway and I will need to go the electrolysis route.

At the moment I can tolerate facial hair and leg hair because most of the time I am not seeing it. But I hate having hair on my fore arms and the backs of my hands which is more visible to me. 

Is it better to wait until you are on HRT before starting beard removal?

I use an electric shaver on my face, can get a smooth feel with a lot of work. It will not show for the day, only the smoothness goes in a few hours and it is that that gets me 

I have an epilator, not for face, worked well on arms no hair there, but using it on chest hurts and not tried legs yet. The legs will need doing ready for summer until then it's tights or leggings

Eek, no!!  Your skin will be more sensitive to pain after you start HRT.  Best to get as much of it done as you can before starting HRT.  It's not so bad that it would justify delaying HRT, but take advantage of the lower pain sensitivity while you have it.

This is very much a YMMV thing.  I don't think that many people experience a big change.  It may slow down a little bit, but you wouldn't want to count on it.

It is too bad you cannot simply dye your hair dark for laser hair removal, but that does not work, based on what I have read.

I purchased the item in the picture last year.1 I started using it on my face about a month ago after i noticed HRT was slowing facial hair growth. I concentrated on my chin and lip area. Due to having a goatee for 20 years I guess the hair roots really established themselves compared to the rest of my face. I use it about once a week. After using it I put Bio Oil in the areas I zapped. I must say I am very pleased with the results. My chin/lip dark hair has really thinned out. It's about half what it was before I started. I paid $150 for the device last year on sale.

Has anyone done the one day or two day electrolysis where they sedate you and work on you for eight hours.
