Hey. I was wondering if anyone was good with Photoshop or Paintshop, or any other photo editing program, and knew how to edit faces in order to make them more masculine. I like to show friends online what I look like, but unfortunately at the moment I look too feminine and no one ever believes that I look twenty (which I am). They always say that I look like a fifteen year old boy. Someone help me out?

I did it as a job, but mine was mainly fixing broken photos and stuff. It is probably your face shape that makes you look young though, and that opens a whole can of worms. I think it would be good if you played with dramatic lighting, get some desk lamps and try to make more sever shadows on your face. Whack the photo in desturate after to see the effect of shadow more deeply. It may not work, but will give some idea of the shapes and angles of your face.

I could give it a try. I'm not the best at photography though so I don't know how it would work out. No ideas on if there is any way to edit the face shape in some way without making the photo obviously edited?

no, anything like that would make you look strange

That's a FMS :-)

Quite easy, just take the lasso to say the jaw angle, and just slightly (I mean slightly) pull it out with warp.

For the chin, its a bit delicate since you want to increase height and make it a bit wider, a lasso on the end of the chin and pulling both side slightly and also a bit higher by pulling down.

The nose is almost impossible do do right unless you go very very light. Take the box transform or lasso and pull very slightly at the two bottom angles of the box.

You can lasso the corners of your hairline and pull it slightly back, not too much or it won't look good.

still look 'off' though wouldn't it? The smallest thing looks 'off' with a face.

Its possible to it good enough if you go subtle.
Its if you try to make big changes that you mess up and look like some kind of alien.
The jaw angle is probably the easiest.
The chin and hairline is harder
The nose is almost impossible to get right, but keeping it light gives and idea.

When I wanted to do FFS, I did countless mod's of my photos.

The main problem is not moving the parts, but making sure you blend the new transitions inside
the face so you don't remove skin texture and it doesn't look like plastic. Usually, you can do this by using the band aid with replace (or the clone) and a certain amount of transparency.

Any way I could get help with that? I'm sure if I really tried all you said, I would end up looking like some sort of alien.  :o

You don't want to warp the photo.

That would work.
but it wouldn't represent you.

The best way to still keep it looking like you but masculine is to use makup effects.

You can add more 'dirt' look to your face, add beard stuble look like a five oclock shadow, add in more eyebrow hair, lower the hairline on the sideburns, etc.

if you have any sort of adams apple, you can highlight that area using a cutout tool or wand and add more contrast and shadow to amplify it.

Same with your jaw and neck, if you don't want to add hair. you can just add more shading and shadow to make it look more masculine.

Warping the face: I only reccomend if the people who are going to see the pic are never going to see you in person.

They will be able to tell. even if subtle, it will seem off.

I always wondered why Facial masculinisation surgery never took off in FTM since
even Genetic males with weak chins, weak jaws and small nose get it done.

Maybe because a less absolutely male apparence is actually seen attractive
in males. What makes a man and a women attractive is very similar and
what makes a male attractive is closer to the female average.

If you look at all top holliwood leading men you see what I mean.

All good ideas. I suppose I'll have to play around with it. And of course I wouldn't show the picture to people I would meet in real life. I've got a lot of work to try to do...  ;)
