It is now just 55 days away and I will be having GCS at the University of Minnesota with Dr. Kim and Dr. Pariser! Their program is pretty new, but I am fully confident with the Universitys gender programs. I am so excited to be able to have the surgery and also to not have to travel to have it done.

I'm very curious to hear about how well they do. I live in Minneapolis, MN as well and I haven't heard of anyone using Dr. Kim yet but I've heard his name mentioned a few times. Good luck!

I'm a 65 year old male who has been thinking about SRS for many years.  I also was a  full cross dresser for a few years.  I wear a bra, pantyhose and nail polish daily because it just feels right.

Started HRT April 17, 2019.

I would be interested in hearing about the outcome.  I just recently moved from up there to Florida, but could always move in with my son for a few days (he lives in Hastings, MN) to have it done there if he is good!

Oops! Surgery is in 2019! 43 days to go!

I have a friend having surgery with him tomorrow! I will be getting some advanced information for mine.

Doctor Kim talked with the Minnesota Transgender Alliance back in August. He gave a very good talk and was open to all of our questions. It was the day after I had my consultation with him.

I still can't believe it is happening!

Just 30 days to go now! Pre-op appointment next week followed by one last round of laser the week after that! Things are getting real!

My friend that had her surgery with Dr. Kim a couple weeks ago is doing great! She is very happy with how things are looking and dilation sounds like it is going well too. It is really nice having someone near by that has used the same team and speaks very highly of them.

Which department is he in, and in which hospital is it done?

The Universities programs can all be reached through this department.

It's the hospital on campus at 500 Harvard. I don't recall the name off the top of my head.

Thanks,
It is Fairview.  I had my surgical immersion training there!   At that time, nobody even dreamed about gender correction surgeries!
I would kind of feel "at home" there!  We used them for a lot of our application tests.

Wow, just 15 days to go! Today is the last day of HRT until after surgery. I am so excited to be on the other side!

Do you know for how long you have to stay in the hospital as inpatient, and for how long you require bed rest, or minimal physical activities once you were released?

I would have to do some planing for this, and wonder if I could be outpatient living in my motorhome for the time.  It is one of the bus size rigs, and has a fully queen size bed and a real shower and stool.

I just simply have more confidence in either Fairview or the Mayo in Rochester.  I know both institutions very well, and know how they function, and that makes me feel comfortable there!

I will be in the hospital for 5-7 days. They won't allow you to be outpatient, and you probably won't want to be. My total time off of work is 6 weeks, the first few being the hardest, physically.

I have friends that have had surgery at both the U and Mayo. All seem to be going very well.

What do you expect?  After all, it is Minnesota and Mid West Quality (what a quality shock it was for me after I moved to Florida last year!)

I forgot, do you life out state or in the cities?

My son lives in Hastings, and I used to live across the St. Croix in Hudson, but worked in St. Paul.  If it would not have been for the weather, I would not have moved.  But 40++ years of those winters was enough for me!

How are the waiting times to get in for surgery?  I think i would just want to have bottom surgery done, because my boobs seem to get big enough on their own.

Assuming you have all of the hoops covered, such as letters, you could be in in less than 6 months.

Thanks!  I have no problem to get all the letters, etc., I just have to find out if Medicare would pay in Minnesota!
This Florida Medicare seems to be different than the version I had up north!

I am now in the home stretch! Just 3 more days to go!

Yuusui

Here I am, now 16 days since my surgery! It was an amazing experience. Dr. Kim's team was top notch! All is healing as expected. I've already been able to upsize my dilator!

One thing that happened for me that seems to be a first was that I was given an epidural. Omg! That's turned out to be the best thing ever! I HAD ABSOLUTELY NO PAIN DURING MY HOSPITAL STAY! Once it started wearing off, I could start feeling things, but it was extremely manageable. I am one happy woman!
