Jeanne

Just a quick note to say hello.  I'm in my 50s, MT... F? Maybe, but I'm not sure yet and not sure if I'm ready to even say it (if that makes sense.)  It's been about two years since I decided to be more accepting of myself.  I never really thought of myself as dysphoric, but I see happiness over here.

Hi Jeanne,

I never thought of myself as having gender dysphoria, I always though that had to be related to bad feeling about my body. But I was unhappy socially and very isolated, living as/pretending to be man.

Anyways I am also my 50's, and looking back I wish I had done something earlier. But I am determined to make the most of life now as a woman -- and it is working.

Welcome!

~Dee.

Hi Jeanne, welcome to Susan's Place, I'm Jessica!

Questions were a big thing in the beginning for me.  It takes time to come to the answers until you explore your thoughts.  I found that a therapist with transgender experience was the best move for me to get over my fears.  As you express your feelings to someone who is listening and is non judgmental, it becomes easier to see the truth to the matter.  The words you say become real to yourself, and you hear them.

I see that our Northern Star*Goddess @Alaskan Danielle has greeted you with her grace and charm and some very handy links to tips that will help make your experience here fruitful.  Give them a look see.

Again welcome to Susan's Place!

Hugs, Jessica

Hi, Jeanne, and welcome.

Figuring out who you are is the hard part.  It can take a while for us older folks, because we have lived so long with denial that we become used to it.  (I am 64.)  Take your time if you need to.

Are you seeing a gender therapist?  If not, I highly recommend it, especially in this exploratory phase where you are trying to identify who you are.  Having someone to whom you can share your history and thoughts and who will give you informed feedback is very helpful.

Thanks all!

Danielle, thanks for the links (and the craving for cookies ...Northern Star*Goddess indeed!)  I'll admit that I kind of skimmed the TOS when I signed up.  Having everything here in one place really helps.

It seems strange how we can sometimes get so far without before recognizing that things don't match up.  Time marches on, and I think (or at least hope) that we are more attuned to ourselves.

I was seeing a gender therapist for some time.  I've been on a break, but it may be time to get back to it.  More than getting back into therapy, I'm hoping to keep reaching out.  Depending on the circumstances, one 50 minute hour a week can be just as lonely as doing it alone.

Hi Jeanne

Welcome to Susan's

Being unsure about who we are and what paths to take is almost par for the course for many of our members so you are certainly in good company

Dysphoria is so individual and I know for me I worked out how much I had as I slowly started to transition...Finding out what is driving it can be easier to work out as it begins to leave our lives...as we begin to find the things that make us happy I hope you find your happiness.

Take care
Liz

p.s. I have to say, when I say the title "Hello World!", it made me think of Java programing 101 first class project.   LOL
