I hope the MRI results come back soon and show that everything will be fine! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

UPDATE:   Monday, 10:50am  March 11, 2019  ... Preliminary MRI results

Well everyone, the good news is that my pain level is way down, just about non-existent if I don't do stupid things involving my back...

....but the not-so-good news, evidently there is a bone fragment/chip in my lower spine and along with a bulging disc is causing me the issues that I am having.

While my local doctor thinks that the bulging disc will heal in it's own time, and so far it is getting better,  he is concerned about the bone fragment so is recommending that I get an opinion from a specialist... he wants me to give him the go-ahead for him to refer me to a Neurosurgeon for a consultation.
In the meantime, he says that I can continue with low impact exercise, walking, etc... and don't do things that cause any kind of pain.

I don't have time for this... but I do need to get this taken care of as soon as possible.  Argghhhhh, at 39 years old I am having these issues, what future things are going to happen with me when I get older????   Getting older is not for sissies for sure.

I guess my future big-city shopping trip is going to be combined with a big-city doctor's visit too!!!!   FUN!!!!

I will keep you all posted.
.... I am feeling pretty good, so no need to worry....... yet!!!!
Hugs,
Danielle

Just wait till your knees go-------- Keep that back rested and look after it. I have to be very careful with mine and its the silly small movements that can make it go. Fingers crossed it heals soon, take care XXXX

Back issues are never fun.

Knowing the neurosurgeons my girlfriend works for, they're probably going to want to poke at the disc bulge while they're in there so don't be surprised if they suggest it.  Especially if the bulge is toward the inside of the spinal column.

The good news there is that back surgery has become far less invasive for issues like this.  So while you aren't going to feel amazing right afterward, you're likely to be up and about on your own the same or next day.

Danielle, I am so sorry to here that there is more to your back pain to resolve. Most definitely have it taken care of and mind yourself, don't over do. The only reason I am still mobile myself is because I stopped doing a lot of strenuous things earlier in life that I knew would aggravate things. I took a lot of heat for not doing things, that's ok. Some people my age didn't take care of themselves and ended up much worse.

I know with your attitude and outlook this will all be in the past soon enough. Just don't forget :)
I left the door open, only a few came through. such is my life.

So sorry to read of your health issues.  :( Good luck with the visit to the specialist.  It seems like a chip should be a relatively easy thing to fix.  Hopefully a good doc and a little PT will have you back to normal soon.  Til then, take it easy and don't overdo anything.  Best wishes.

Hey Danielle,  So sorry for the back issue and yes at the young age of 39 it is a little scary thinking about the future with regard to health.  I guess the silver lining is that this was an injury and not old age.  You will eventually be OK.

My health tsunami started at 44 but I am lucky in the sense that the intense episodes come and go - heart attacks come and they go  :D  cancer surgeries come and go  :D  kidneys come and uh well in one case it went  ::)  I have bad months and I have great years.  Celebrate the good.

You've got this - you are trans - you've got anything.

Hope you feel better soon.

Ouch Ouch Ouch...as a nurse with a history of back injuries I cam empathise. I once had a drunk fall on me at a sobering up unit that put me out opf action for 6 weeks so I feel for you. I hope you recover quickly and no ongoing issues.

Danielle, I'm happy that your bulging disc is a bit better, but has your doctor mentioned and thought of removing the chip?  This can be a risky procedure I'm sure.  I would think in your later years of life it could become an issue.  Or is there a chance of it fusing back together, doubtful I would think.

Maybe a few of your suitors would take turns making sure the ice is cleared for you...☺️

Hey Danielle,

After suffering lower back pain for far too long from sitting in front of a computer for 30 years and other things, I switched my chair.  Do you spend considerable time in a standard office chair doing accounting?   I don't know if it will work for you but it really helped me. I switched to a Salli saddle chair.

https://salli.com/en/

It takes a bit to get use to, but it really helped my posture and relieved a lot of tension in my back.

You might also find it interesting to watch Dr. Stuart McGill talks on the back.

Maybe it will help, backs are a tricky thing.
Good luck,
Paige :)

I am glad you are feeling better and I hope the chip issue does not need surgery.

Thank you all for your kind and supportive words regarding my back injury.   Obviously this is very concerning to me and I am impatiently waiting to get a firm appointment for a Neurosurgeon consultation....  it doesn't look like it is going to happen very soon.... argggghhhhh.

The good news is that my back pain is much reduced as a result of the Prednizone that I have been taking for just about a week.   I hate taking that particularly anti-inflammatory because of the many reported bad side-effects especially with long term use.

I am pleased however that my doctor did put me an a "tapered" dose... I just have a few days left at the lowest dose and I will be done... hopefully the bulging disc inflammation won't come back.

The big issue of course is the bone chip/fragment...  I don't want that floating around "back there" to cause me even bigger issues in the future...  hopefully the surgery consultation will reveal what exactly needs to be done about that... either leave it there or remove it ....   I will impatiently await the expert's opinion.

Hugs,... and again, thank you for coming to my rescue with your kind and caring thoughts.

Danielle

Take it from an old lady, getting old sucks when you have to deal with back pain.

I hope and pray your back gets better soon and just as much hope the insurance company doesn't make your life a living hell.  They can screw things up SO badly you just want to scream.

The only thing worse than getting old is the alternative  >:-)  And you're not even old!  I hope it resolves gracefully and without too much delay.
If so, then why not?
