Hi - looking for opinions/thoughts on Dr. Curtis Crane for vaginoplasty.  He is on my short-list of surgeons.  I know he has been doing them for several years, but wondering about people's experience and satisfaction with him.

Thanks  :)

If you go to the Gender Correction Surgery section of the site (where this thread is located) and enter the surgeon's name in the search box located in the upper right hand corner of the screen. You will get about half a dozen previous threads about this surgeon. It appears he isn't used often but the community is aware of him.

Hi - yeah.  I saw those threads but was looking for more direct experience.  About half of those threads are search-found because his name is part of the group (B&C) or in indirect comparison to other surgeons.  We shall see (and hopefully former patients will chime in).

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

I didn't have SRS with Dr. Crane but he did do my FFS.  I personally think he's a really skilled surgeon with fantastic bedside manner.

He does a lot of phalloplasty procedures for the FtM crowd, which is a far more tedious procedure than a vaginoplasty.  (I overheard one guy in the waiting room talking about how happy he was with his)  Any surgeon capable of those should be able to pull off an MtF SRS procedure with ease.

That's as close to first hand info as I have I'm afraid.

@ Colleen_definitely - was this after he moved to Austin?  Just curious, since getting through to his Austin office seems to routinely involve at-least a 24-hour delay (which does concern me...how quickly can a post-op complication be attended to, esp if he only has clinic once/week).

Thanks

Yes it was after the move. You get the phone number for the on call nurses in case of any problems. If anything serious happens they'll get him in to take care of things.

Thank you.  I've met with the two surgeon's in Texas, now it's decision time I guess (I've chatted with fans/detractors of both) so we'll see.  Still have an appt in San Fransisco with Dr. Wittenberg; submitted new patient forms for Satterwhite and McGinn.  There is something obviously good about having it done close to home (or at least a few hours drive),  Ughhh...
