Hello everyone,

I have been lurking on the boards for a while and really appreciate all of the questions and comments that have helped me figure things out for myself.  The positivity is wonderful and it is heartening to recognize many shared experiences.

This last year has been a wild ride for me, but I have finally accepted that I feel like a woman and can't really proceed on other goals in my life until I meet this long, deep need that I have systematically ignored/repressed for decades.  I'm 'married' with kids, which has added to the challenge immensely.  She is very straight, so this is probably an insurmountable obstacle, but we are trying to stay in partnership until the kids are older and splitting would make financial sense. I am currently lining up all of the necessary insurance prerequisites to start HRT.

Thanks again for the information and encouragement that you all supply.   Mostly I will probably read more than post, but this is an incredible resource!

Hi Jael/Jeal, it's nice to meet you.  I'm living a somewhat similar life to yours.  Dealing with coming out to my wife was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.  I hope you and your wife can work things out before your children are gone.  It may not be as unsurmountable as you thought.  I originally only told my wife I crossdressed periodically. My wife was not very understanding at first until we sat down and and we talked for dozens of hours and I revealed my entire life story to her.  Since then, she has not only accepted me completely as Susan but she has become my greatest ally during my transition.  There's always hope.  Good luck on your journey and keep us updated along the way if you care to share.

Susan, thank you for the encouragement!  I think the hardest part is that what finally makes me start to feel complete makes her feel like the world is ending.  She is very very straight.  I haven't given up hope, she is a kind and strong person, but she is dealing with a lot of anger.  At the very least, we both want to try and create a new relationship where we co-parent. The kids really don't want us to split up. Who knows? Being forced to work at it may open both of our hearts.

We just went to see Mary Poppins returns today. She wants me to be Jack, but I see myself as Jane 😎.
