Hi All,

I asked my Doctor if we could switch from Oral Mirconized P to Inj PIO, but said after talking to his supervisor that it can't be done because it is not in the WPATH standards of care. I know I have read some TG girls on PIO, but never actually looked too deep into it. I know the injections need to be done closer together because of the half life of PIO (have used PIO previously). I did read that higher dosages are able to last 3 days before returning to baseline which is almost x2 a week injections and I feel that is manageable for me. I also asked him about Progesterone Suppositories as an alternative to by pass first liver pass metabolism for less stress on the liver and he said unable to prescribe. I haven't asked the reason yet I assume the same answer.

Is anyone here on PIO? How was your experience on having it prescribed? The other options are depo provera and proluton, but I know those are synthetics and just do not want them. I want bio identical and right now my only option is Mictonized P (which I am taking), but I prefer to by pass the extra pass on the liver because of longterm (The rest of my life) treatment. I understand most of it gets destroyed and what is left is heavily metabolized to other lesser forms of P when taken orally.

I'm looking for options and what I could do? I switching doctors is the best way, but I am currently going through an electrolysys aproval letter at the center and don't want to disrupt that. Plus I'm being covered by insurance and don't know how that is going to be affected.

I use / ever try PROGESTERONE CREAM? Twice a day I find it also doubles as a good dry skin moisturizer - use it on my fore-legs and arms. (Bioidentical) 4oz Pump of 2000mg USP Bio-Identical, Micronized Progesterone . . .

Amazon usually has free-shipping by Smoky Mountain Naturals  ;D ;)
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

My understanding is the pio injections burn and hurt like hell and leave a big ugly painful knot. I could deal with that periodically but not 3 times a week. Check any fertility web site and you can get the horror stories there. To make a baby? Sure. For anecdotal results? Ima gonna pass.

My MD would not switch me either... However, I was on oral and it's suspended in peanut oil. Peanut's give me terrible indigestion, so she noted that in my chart and switched me to IM progesterone. I Take E Sunday AM, P Monday AM, E Wednesday PM and P Thursday AM . Rinse and repeat. I use a 1 ml BD309628 and a Nipro 25 ga 1.5" needle.

The progesterone is suspended in Sesame oil. I did use some from Inhouse Strone was the Brand but the  benzyl alcohol caused Tinnitus so I stopped with 14 ampules of 100mg Ml left over. So your MD could prescribe if you had a say bad reaction to peanut oil.

Hi all,

yes the PIO does cause a sensation on the inj site mainly it feels like your muscle is sore, but that isn't a problem for me. I have used Progesterone cream from amazon and when I was switched to oral micronized P I felt more of the progesterone like effects, so I figured the cream was not as effective as the oral version. I recall doing research on cream and it raises saliva levels higher than serum blood, so I think micronized is the better choice, but I would prefer PIO. Progesterone has helped a lot with rounding of the breasts, so I am quite happy with it. Thank you for the input on indigestion I will make a note of it.
