Hi All,
I asked my Doctor if we could switch from Oral Mirconized P to Inj PIO, but said after talking to his supervisor that it can't be done because it is not in the WPATH standards of care. I know I have read some TG girls on PIO, but never actually looked too deep into it. I know the injections need to be done closer together because of the half life of PIO (have used PIO previously). I did read that higher dosages are able to last 3 days before returning to baseline which is almost x2 a week injections and I feel that is manageable for me. I also asked him about Progesterone Suppositories as an alternative to by pass first liver pass metabolism for less stress on the liver and he said unable to prescribe. I haven't asked the reason yet I assume the same answer.
Is anyone here on PIO? How was your experience on having it prescribed? The other options are depo provera and proluton, but I know those are synthetics and just do not want them. I want bio identical and right now my only option is Mictonized P (which I am taking), but I prefer to by pass the extra pass on the liver because of longterm (The rest of my life) treatment. I understand most of it gets destroyed and what is left is heavily metabolized to other lesser forms of P when taken orally.
I'm looking for options and what I could do? I switching doctors is the best way, but I am currently going through an electrolysys aproval letter at the center and don't want to disrupt that. Plus I'm being covered by insurance and don't know how that is going to be affected.
