Hihi everybody!
My name is Amanda, and I am a 65 years old transsexual woman
As far back as I can remember I knew that I was female. But because of when and where I grew up, I didn't even know that there were other people like me until sometime in the first half of the 90's. But by then my father had had a minor stroke, and I was worried that if I took any steps at all to become myself, he would have a major one.
I didn't actually start even looking up information on transitioning until after my father passed away. It was mostly due to that I didn't even start HRT until in November of 2002. I was 2 months and 2 days short of my 49th birthday when I took my first dose.
I have been incredibly lucky/blessed with the effects of HRT on me. I am still pre-op, due to having been the sole income for myself and some friends of mine that lived with me. I simply couldn't afford GCS, either back before any insurance would cover it, or indeed even after it started being covered. Due to my money circumstances changing, I can now afford it. I now have my two required letters, and I am now researching different surgeons.
