Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I'll continue anyway. I really want to start HRT soon but I am still a minor, so I need both parents to approve. My mom already expressed that she thinks I am not ready to make that decision even after being out to her for about 2 1/2 years and I am miserable with myself the way I am right now. Are there any hard facts with sources that can help prove I am ready and won't change my mind later?

I believe it would show a lit of maturity and confidence in your belief that you are ready for HRT if you were to propose to your parents to attend therapy sessions. Many of the gender therapists will do family sessions.

Have a professional talk with you and your parents, would be the most successful way to convince your parents and ensure to yourself that you are ready. They will give resources to help your parents understand where you are at, and can give you an official diagnosis.

Hopefully you find something that works! Stay strong!

Offer an alternative:

Blockers will not change your body, just slow down or halt the progression of puberty. This will allow you to avoid some of the irreversible alterations of the puberty you do not wish to experience to the point where you can decide what your future will be.

This will show your rents you are serious, and buy you some time. While you respect that they feel you are too young to make that choice, you want them to respect your wishes to delay (gender) changes for the time being.

Maybe not hormones however often under age children are treated with a puberty blocker. This delays puberty thus reducing the pain and cost of transitioning. For example, a MTF may not develop a lower voice, Adams Apple or beard, all which are costly, painful and difficult to reverse. What is offered may differ from country to country however your parents should enquire about this if they wish to help you as much as possible.

Thank you for all the good advice! I do go to therapy sessions already so I think I'll ask my therapist if we can talk about that. However, my endocrinologist has said that I am too far into puberty for blockers to be worth it. (I'm 16 yr old ftm)

Well, the bright side is should you move forward with T in the future, your voice will still change and you will probably get facial hair.
