There are several misconceptions about the presence of the ladyboy in Thailand. Many people think that this phenomenon is a result of the Western influence in the culture of Thailand. With the recent boom in tourism in the country, they feel, the concept of the katoey has been imported in the cities like Phuket or Pattaya.
