Hey so I've been transitioning for 15 months
I starting to give up on finding a better job. My dad is really
Transphobic. But I thinking he is right it doesn't matter that
In Canada it's against the law to discriminate against trans people
He has been in business for his entire adult life. He is right
That most employers don't want to hire transgender people
Regardless of the law.  I'm starting to think maybe as better as I feel
Now that I'm transitioning and full time. I still don't have. The right to
Be myself. I've gone to almost a dozen interviews and all where all rejected
Never happened to me pre transition. 1 or 2 and I'd land a job
I had another phone interview that sounded promising with a company's head
Office in another city. There local office never contacted me to schedule. An interview
I even had one at Starbucks a Company I thought was accepting of trans people and I was even turned down for that interview.   It's extremely frustrating. I live what seems to be a very open
Left leaning city and it's still an issue. Right now I'm working as an evening janitor but I really hate my job.
I'm taking an employment program I didn't go yesterday or today

I have a meeting on April 1st for starting a business plan  it's
A government program. That would get me ready to file for a business loan
I have a few ideas for different businesses. In a lot of ways I'd rather be self employed

Dear Michelle:
In my opinion, the best self-employed small business that you can consider is to be following your passion and your interests,  and your present skill set along with any previous education and training that you may have.

Owning your own small self-employed business is obviously a big decision for you personally and for you financially.
The financial risk is all yours....
...your ability to succeed is sometimes up to market forces that can be out of your control.

So be prepared to work hard and long hours, business expenses are all yours, not a lot of days off, very little pay to start, no paid vacation, no paid sick-leave, no overtime pay, no paid-for benefits such as heath insurance and retirement program....   all of those things are entirely up you and how your prepare your own financial future.

I personally know these things....   I have my own self-employed small business...
I would never go back to working for an employer again.
....any questions, please ask.
Hugs and wishing you well,
Danielle

I will add some more a little later on....   wishing you well.
