So I'm slowly grinding my way through my name change, I have all of the financial/govt stuff done. Now I'm getting my educational records changed. I was emailing with the registrar where I went for undergrad, and she told me that I could get my diploma reissued, but that they'd want me to send them my old one. For some reason I really don't want to do that. I know I don't have to, but it's weird that I'd want something with the wrong name on it.

Has anyone else gone through something like this?

Oh yeah.... like you may be, I am very sentimental...  I like to keep things like old and new documents.   In the case where I had to turn in the old dead-name document I made a color-copy of it for sentimental value...
I also still have a small quantity of my old business cards, resumes and other paperwork from my previous employment and jobs....
I have kept some old family pictures and business and trade show pictures of me back before I transitioned.

... now it is different with regard to my "old" clothing, I gave it all away... I have not owned any male clothing or shoes for well over 2 years.

Hugs,
Danielle

I'm willing but only after I receive the new one because I'm paranoid I'd end up with no diploma.

I didn't bother to get my degree changed.  I don't display the document, and, being retired, I don't need it to get a job, so I didn't bother.

If I had to return it, I'd make a good quality colour copy first.  Similar to my birth certificate.  When it comes time to change it, I will have to return the old one.  I will make a colour copy first.

Yes.  My old minister's license still has my birth name on it.  I'd actually have to pay to have the name changed, so I'm a bit reluctant. :-\

When packing things over Christmas vacation I found my old male id which the dmv punched void before giving me my new female id. I laughed seeing it.

I also found the last bit of clothes that I thought I had thrown out including my old leather jacket from Guess. I three it all out except the jacket. I would look ridiculous wearing it now because I'm smaller (well once the weight is back down) then I was before hrt. It would be like wearing my boyfriends coat. I don't know why I couldn't bring myself to chuck it.

Did that with my wedding suit. After a year transitioning it looked totally ridiculous on me yet I still couldn't make myself donate it. Eventually I did because there is no way on earth I'll ever have a use for a suit almost (now) three sizes too big and quite frankly very unflattering to my body shape now.
