"Rather than anyone addressing whether NCTE will work with HRC in the future, the Blade chose to zero in on the demands for resignation from HRC's board and leadership and a sentence from Meredith's post that observed HRC being controlled and dependent upon "white, rich, professional gay men." They're using this as a cudgel to beat home their point that NCTE needed to demand retraction and repudiation – or remove Bacon from office."

Ok, having read the editorial, and having listened to the interview with Mara on CSPAN after the introduction of the trans-exclusive ENDA bill, I can't argue with anyone expressing their personal view, whether they're co-chair of an organization or not, but I can argue it's not anyone's place to argue for the resignation or dismissal of that individual by anyone else, especially in the media. It's up to the organization, and it seems they have spoken.

As to the Meredith's statements, last I heard it's called freedom of speech, and unless she signed a contract with specific language banning such statements, it's up to the NCTE to decide her fate. But considering Mara's words since, it's the difference between the two's words are political correctness and honesty. And sometimes honesty is the best policy.

Ya know, I just don't have a problem with her calling the basic misogynistic tendency of 'gay males' toward lesbians and women in 'the movement' a major problem!!

Afterall, Barney did go to bed with a page at one time. He wasn't THAT respectable.

And the 'big picture' usually seems to me that 'the guys' get to go first, no matter the costs to the women, and other men!!

Yes, maybe Meredith didn't need to go calling out another orgs decision-making about their leadership, although the 'boys' over at HRC have done that for years with other organizations.

I say she gets a medal for saying what needs to be recognized and owned by HRC.

I don't see a problem at all with calling a spade and spade.
I think the HRC should grow some balls (sic) in dealing with other Orgs,

Ii the leadership is man enough (which we know is the case.... )
to screw people left and right without blinking, then
they'll suck in their tight lipo-succioned white bread stomach and
bend over in the kick me hard position and take it.

Sorry, if I've offended their poor little tush with my kick.

Notice how un-pc this whole thing is  ;D
