I have moderate breast growth so far but the shape seems hampered by fatty growth on my torso just below my armpits.  With this growth the size/shape of my breasts seem camouflaged by this wrap around flab.  I'm thinking of asking a plastic surgeon about removing that flab on the side so my breasts have better definition.  Has anyone else experienced somethings similar?

Thanks,

Bea

Hi Bea, How long have you been on HRT? IMHO from everything I had read about breast development and all of the dr's and research, that it can take up to 5 years to have the full effect of HRT on a MTF transwoman to see the final results. I would ask your endo/NP/Dr medical professional what they think before talking to a plastic surgeon.

Three years ago, I started HRT but it only lasted six months.  Over the last two years I have seen my breasts gain a little bit in size but what I have noticed most is the fat below my armpits.  I'm not looking for argumentation for size, just shape.  I hope to be starting HRT in the next month.  I plan to give it a year or more before talking to a surgeon.  I was just curious if others have had a similar problem?

Weight loss and gain have a huge effects on breast growth and it also is dependant on if you are taking Estrogen during any weight gain, as you body is depositing the fat is different areas than does testosterone. You are making a wise choice and staying on HRT for a while before making any nip/tuck appointments.

Hi Bea!

I just saw your post about feeling let down. I must say that I did not see this post, so I'm sorry about that.

I'll tell you about my own experience. I began my transition 2 years and 2 months ago, when I was 44 years old. Since then, I've been without interruption under an estrogen and an anti-androgen (followed by an endocrinologist).

After about 1 year, I had grown from an A cup to a small B cup, while maintaining my weight (around 75kg for 169cm height). As you, I did accumulate a little bit of fat in front of my armpits, so at first my breasts looked more like "moobs".

At that time, I thought about getting breast implants, but my plastic surgeon advised me to complete at least 2 full years HRT before doing it. This is because the breasts can keep growing... In most cases, after 2 years there's no further growth anymore (although YMMV). Sure enough, they grew until about 20 months into HRT...

Still, notwithstand a nice B cup, my chest is somewhat broad so I felt that I still needed implants. About 1 month ago I finally got 375mL implants, giving me nicely shaped breasts. The little fat pads you mentioned got streched by the implants, so they are no longer visible.

You should not discard the fact that breast development is in big part genetically determined. Meaning that two different people with the same, same estradiol levels for the same duration will have different growths...

Warm regards,
Sarah

Sarah,

I appreciate your sharing your experience.  Moobs are exactly what I am seeing and it is very depressing right now.  Thank you.

Best regards, Bea

Bea,

The bright side is that it's going to improve along the way, under HRT. And in the meanwhile, you can use padded bras which add some volume and shape. That's what I did... Even managed to go to the beach long before GCS, thanks to a padded swimsuit (and also because my genitals were so atrofied that I had no need to tuck).

Smile... It's gonna get better! Don't give up on this

Warm hugs  Sarah

I experience some of this as well. I usually aim for a bra that helps shape this area.
I find an underwire shaping bra does the trick.

Kind regards, Kirsten

My breasts rounded out a lot after I used progesterone cream on the breasts for a while.

I like the relaxed feeling that progesterone provides but the rounding and swelling of the breast area definitely is a plus too.

My breasts were conically shaped during the first two years on HRT.
Now they are still growing and have rounded out with more side-boob developing.

I have noticed that my breasts grow again after switching from applying the E-patch on my buttocks to my belly.

We all react differently to hormones and breast growth is driven by generics.

My story, well.. my body reacted quickly to the hormones, I was a B cup at 3 months, then things slowed down, I was a C cup at a year.. but I hated the way my breasts looked, they looked like traffic cones, as my breasts grew outwards and never filled out..

I considered breast forms, but was told to wait by my doctor.. She said, that my breasts were immature and often teenagers go through the same thing... She gave me additional progesterone tablets and some herbal tablet (cant remember the name).. this forced my breasts to mature by forming milk ducts..I even was able to lactate (I did pump with a breast pump, they was actually an amazing experience). I found my breasts began to fill out as well, I eventually grew to a D cup.

Now, my breasts look like a grown woman's breasts. I started hrt at 21

But padding helps hide your breast shapes.
Enjoying ride the hormones are giving me... finally becoming the woman I always knew I was

Thank you.  That gives me hope.  While our experiences will never be quite the same it is good to hear from ladies that have felt much like I do in the past.

Best regards,

Bea

I'm 5 months in & still in the cone stage, but I'm up to about a B. Based on some of what I've read here, I'm going to potentially look into Progesterone to help fill them out.

It is often recommended to wait until you are at least 1 year on HRT to commence progesterone.
Progesterone continues working on the work that E has done. Therefore, it needs something to work with first.
I read some studies that suggest that starting progesterone too early may cause early fusion of the breast buds.

Debby
