Hello Everyone

As some of you may know, I shall be publicly transitioning in Summer and my first major action as part of going fulltime will be to legally change my forenames.

Now I know there have been many threads on choosing forenames but I am surprised the matter I raise has not come up before.

In the UK and I believe in the US, it is quite common for people to be called by their second or middle forename; must be over 10% of all births. My parents chose my name whose initials are W.P. but I have always been called by that being P. My parents called me that since birth and hence it was intentional. I always used it also.

I have decided that I wish to retain my initials but that I wish to invert them such that the name by which I shall always be called uses the P for Pamela and that the other initial W is used for my middle name Wendy.

The policy of always being called by my middle name has caused confusion especially for legal or financial requirements and hence I am "killing two birds with one stone".

Has anyone else either retained AND inverted their previous initials of forename please or is anyone considering it please?

Thanking you and Hugs to all.

I can't say I have ever given it much thought.  My middle name was only for my mother to use when she was mad at me. ;)  I kept my initials as they were.

But the important thing is that, if you are going to change your name, it should be something that you like.  I can see why inverting your initials would be practical.  So go for it!  It is your name.

Thank you Kathy and Davina.

I see the 3 of us retained our original initials but it is just me who is inverting them for the financial and legal reasons above.

I am sure there must be many members of Susans (who may or may not have retained their original initials) but are always called by their middle or second forename!

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

Hugs

I did. I actually liked my birth name, the only reason I changed it really was because I wanted some protection from certain malicious people I knew in the past by making myself harder to locate with a new forename. So I switched up the order and also added an extra middle name. Not many people in the UK have more than one middle name I guess - rarely seen it myself - but I do now. I just think of it as an extra name I could be known by as a work pseudonym or nickname.
