Davina's diary vol 3, life goes on... continued

Spent 8 hrs working on the wiring yesterday on my mates hot rod, ran out of terminals so will get it finished on Mon. Thurs food shop yet again, busy when I get back with house work as have a flat inspection tomorrow. Have a few faults to report and the electrician is coming to trace the fault he found when the testing was done.

Electrician turned up early (he wanted to play the new Call of Duty out today!!) but it took him till 11 to find the 2 faults, one a broken earth wire in a socket and loose connections in another. Well at least I got to clean behind stuff in the kitchen before moving it back and the fault in the bedroom socket was behind my BIG wardrobe, good job he is a strong lad as its full!!
 Flat inspection went fine, he said you are taking good care. It could still do with a deep clean but cant be bothered. Not standing on steps to clean tops of cupboards .
 Found my big tomatoes in the fridge have mould on them, going to peel them and make some sauce. Talking of tomatoes I have 1.4kilos of green toms to make chutney, that is this afternoons mission.

...And another episode of "Hot Rods & Cooking with Davina."  Davina, you can name each dish after your favorite hot rod.  How about making a carburetor grill?  It would add a whole new chapter to your cookbook. 

Your book would be a "hot' seller at the meets.

Well tomato and spinach made up "curry" done , that used the tomatoes that were starting to rot and some spinach I had left over. Ate some with my chicken and spinach curry, also the green tomato chutney just filled 4 large jars so the ones mum gave me were not needed.
 No internet all afternoon, just rebooted the system and so far its working. Maybe it didn't reload correctly after the power was turned on and off a few times this morning?

As my heading says life goes on, busy on getting my VW panel sorted and working on my mate hot rod. TBH not much time for anything else. As Daniel said busy people are happy people and I like what I do, back home early as chucked some paint at the panel van. Need to phone dentist and cancel my hygienist as hopping to be picking my new motor up from Scotland that day, cooking some veg in a bit.

Thursday food shop again!! It comes round quick, still I wont need to buy anything for dinner as defrosted fish for a curry. Cloudy mild and dry today and staying the same for the next few days so will be good for Bonfire night and Diwali celebrations, lots of fire works then!!

Dull damp and cloudy this morning, makes me want to snuggle up on the sofa. Got my cant be bothered head on but need to go and see if the VW will start.There again if the CBA wins I wont!!
 We have set the date for fetching the new project , 28th Nov for Scotland trip. Looks like just myself and Nick going as his wife cant get time off work, typical education dept crap as they owe her loads of hours. Nick has booked one room ! so we will be sharing, thats okay we will be fine but I hope its got 2 single beds!!

That happened when we went to Gainesville to watch the drag racing, 12 of us turned up at the motel and manager had let our rooms out so we all slept in one room!! Manager got his ears cleaned out the next day by the travel company and we had free beer that night, think it was supposed to be one drink but nobody told the bar man and we kept filling jugs all night!
 BTW the cant be bothered head won, TBH still feel washed out.

Celena has managed to get the time off so will be 3 of us on the car collection trip. Was going over to Nick's this morning but he has come down with the "flu/covid jab" bug and staying in bed. I know I was a bit rough 4 days after my jabs so I think it is a thing.
 Good turn out at the breakfast run yesterday, few folks from our club turned up plus a lot of American cars.
Coffee and a bacon roll was good then I walked over the road to my workshop to try and start the VW, no joy as looks like a duff battery or corroded connection. Was not feeling like crawling under to check starter so went home, well I was cold by then.

Third vaginaversary day to me, 3 years !! where does the time go. Nick is still tom and dick (sick) so off to see if the VW will start. Yet another dull cloudy day, I would rather see the sun even if it meant colder.

Drat, have a cough this morning . Throat tickling/tight so staying in again as its damp and foggy. My friend is still poorly so will be next week before I go and work on his Hot Rod (stop tittering at the back kids)

You know when folk get a high powered job these days they have to have a psych evaluation ,just saying!!!
 That reminds me I have a pumpkin to cook.

I was not inferring anything   ,well my cough has turned into a runny nose grrr. Have to go do a food shop as run out of stuff (why does it all run out at the same time?) , loo roll, carrots, tin chick peas and might get a whole chicken to butcher for a curry. Heavy bag to carry up 3 flights of stairs with my under powered legs, loo rolls fit in one of my bags as they stopped putting handle on the pack.
 Hope to go back to Nick's next week when we both should be feeling better, same bug? not sure as he spent 3 days in bed and I just felt rough. Perhaps he had man flu!! I am immune to  that now-------

Todays cooking with Davina, cardamom chicken curry. I bought a corn feed free range bird, it was cheaper than an extra large one and more weight !! Cut it into "bight sized bits" as per recipe, it was hard to separate the legs/thighs. Normal ones will bend back and break apart but not these, defo an outside reared. I boiled the carcase to make the stock needed for the curry and then picked the meat off to make farmhouse style chicken soup for dinner. The curry said reduce liquid till thick so left it on high for ages as it was still very thin, woops it is thick alright. Some bits just caught but it tasted fine. That will last me a good few days.

This "bug" is hanging on, my aunt said yesterday there is a lot going around and it takes folks a good week to get over it. Have been feeling "off" for a good week, just need the leaky washer in my nose fixed now. Slept from 11pm till 9.30am with a few disturbances and I only do that when I need to heal.
 Pau bhaji for lunch, spicy mashed veg in a buttery soft roll. Indian street food, turned out very spicy so the good sweat will help rid the bug!
