We had a good get together, I had the home made ->-bleeped-<-gots, mash ,peas and gravy. Looks like the weather is changing quicker than they said so tomorrow I have to try and get as much outside painting done quick as I can but its all prepped ready to primer.
Food shop again, dropping wheels of for new tyres on the way round and calling in DIY store for more stuff as well. Mum has to take Uncle to the docs for an eye test to do with his diabetes as he cant drive for 6hrs after so they will be late to food shop. Gives me a good excuse to rush and get my shopping done quick!!!!

Davina, you are busy! I'm impressed!

What on Earth got bleeped? I can't even guess anything that might work.

Its a stupid thing, we have a British food of minced offal and spices [the name of which is also a homophobic slur, which is why it is bleeped.] Its you Americans cant speak the English language!!!!!!

Ahhh. Got it. Also called "ducks," so I guess anything goes in official English.

It's the forum software, not us! Even so, after a few hundred years of divergence, it seems strange to me to think we're really speaking the same language. There are places in the US where I can't understand what people are saying.

Dear Davina:
You are not the first Brit... and certainly not the last....   that the acceptable Brit words
get caught up in the Censored Word filter.
It is in our software and is relevant to American English.

Absolutely, no problem, please continue posting your thoughts and comments on your Blog and elsewhere on the Forum.

I think that two of my favorite words that you use are "lurgy" and "numpty".

They seem to perfectly describe what they sound like they describe.  ;D

Davina, you speak English, we speak American. Thankfully, we can overcome our American weaknesses and still communicate in English. ;D

Got on well today painting , only a couple of bits left to do tomorrow. It was SO hot in the sun and it went muggy, sweat dripping off my chins not helped by the spray mask. Need a good shower now, my clothes were damp as well.

I spent part of my childhood in Scotland and can do Glaswegian, but Orkney can be fun and a friend of mine once thought a friend of mine from Caithness was talking Gaelic. But Ireland, particularly the North and places like Kerry are seriously rich seams of the most wonderful accents.

If no-one has heard the BBC's Man from Strabane, then he's quite a test of how good your ear is for English.

My all time favourite comedy take on the transatlantic divide is Two Scotsmen in a lift. I grew up with accents like theirs all around me and so I can barely hear them, but it is so funny how they work it...

Very muggy today, just about got painting done before some rain. Every day something is getting ticked of my list of jobs on the Austin. One bit of paint has reacted, might have to rub it right out and respray.Fitted door mirrors and did a lot of small stuff. I was glad to get home and in the shower, my feet were hurting!

Heat wave here in the USA from about Colorado to Canada, and east to the Atlantic.  90s plus.

Baked Alaska may be an appropriate name for the central areas of Alaska.  But not as hot there as the East Coast and the plains.  Triple digit Fahrenheit scale temps there.

Some relief may be coming for a few days to these regions.
