I'm looking for a good trans-supportive place to get laser hair removal in London, preferably East London if possible. I wondered if anyone had any recommendations?

I have the same question, albeit extending to Surrey and Hampshire.

Whilst googling I came across various London clinics proudly stating their LGBTQ+ support, but this doesn't mean I know if they're good at the actual lasering! I'd also be very interested to hear responses on this.

So I've had a really prompt response from the London Laser Clinic, who have 5 studios in London. They get a very good rating on Trustpilot (4.2/5) and excellent on Google (4.9/5) so I'm going to have a consultation and patch test with them.

I'll keep you posted on how I find them.

I used a chain called SK:N clinics for laser. They were very good and had the latest equipment (important for laser).. they were very LGBTQ+ Friendly and they only charged me female prices...

Oh wow Tills, that sounds amazing! I'm going on holiday in a week and won't be back until the 20th so I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on them. Thank you!

I have been looking at Premier as well as they have a salon near Liverpool St which is convenient for me to get to. If London Laser turn out to not be great I might give them a try when I get back and give you a report.

Hi Simone,

Thanks so much for the prompt. It turned out to be quite disappointing in that they were very keen to pull me in for a consult at £20. However, despite being clear that in the first instance I wanted to take up the NHS funding they then said they wouldn't do this. So I've put this clinic on hold.

I'll let you know if I get anywhere with the others I approached. Have you made any progress yourself in London?

As I'm a massive nerd I made a spreadsheet and tried to grab lots of cost data and Trustpilot scores etc to work out my plan. So it seems like Pulse from your list is the best option for me so I'm going to get in touch with them next.

The one thing that complicates things is that both me and my wife are vulnerable to Covid so I want to make sure they would take a few precautions to reduce our risk of getting ill. I can update you when I've spoken to them if you'd like?

Re the covid risk, you'd like to think if you mentioned it and asked then they would take careful precautions. But maybe that's not the case so much now?

Tying your reply in with Davina's, it would be incredibly useful to have a UK spreadsheet of all those offering electrolysis or laser through the NHS funding system. But a huge task and it would probably need everyone on here with UK connections to chip in. For instance, I know a lovely lady in Surrey who does electrolysis through the NHS system. I could go to her but I really wanted to take up the laser option having had c 60-80 hours of electrolysis previously.

At any rate if we could keep this thread updated it would be a huge help. I'm off on a big trip to Australia-New Zealand in a month so I'm kind-of putting things on hold now until I return. Then I hope to resume this in earnest

This is great news Simone and so helpful. A good positive recommendation is just what I'm after for this work.

And the fact that the clinic share the same name with Pink Floyd's all-time classic live show will not, of course, influence me

Ha! I do like a bit of Floyd actually... went to that run of shows in '94 when I was young.

Anyway, had a patch test at the Liverpool Street which was great. Yesterday had my first full body and face session at their Bank branch, and again they were great though the branch was a lot busier. The staff were really kind and nice even though I have extra considerations regarding staying safe from Covid. Biggest problem was just how much my face hurt when zapped - looking into better pain relief for next time.

Tattoo shops can get you some numbing cream. If you are not allergic to lidocaine, you can apply it before your session. Let it soak in for a bit, then wash it off. The laser salon may have that option too.

Yeah you can also buy Emla over the counter in pharmacies. They may ask you the purpose because, erm, apparently it is also sometimes used in the gay community ... That once happened to me. They refused to sell me it. Normally though, esp if you can show you're getting facial hair removal, they'll supply it.

I have also previously had it on prescription in a larger quantity.

Hi Tilly. In terms of their attitude and service all the staff were really lovely, and while they didn't have non-binary as a gender option on their forms I wasn't misgendered anywhere. Both sites were clean and well-appointed too. So they've not put a foot wrong so far at least.

You're inspiring me and I'm getting really interested in these people. They have 4 clinics in London I think? I notice some of their pricing packages seem to state 'half face' but I'd want whole face.

Also in terms of their equipment it's this right?:

'GentleMAX Pro by Syneron Candela, a premium, FDA-approved laser on two wavelengths: the Alexandrite and Nd: Yag.' And then they put a cooler on it I think?

I'm about to embark on a 4 week trip to Australia & New Zealand where it's now summer so I'll need to wait until the new year to let the tan come out of my skin.

Hi Tilly! They do full face too - I'm having that and full body. However I think that their website is a bit clumsy when it comes to choosing the right package. However the staff themselves have been really helpful and accommodating.

I didn't note the exact model of laser machine, but it's a big grey thing with a screen and some a cool air blower as well. I'm having session 2 at the end of November so I can report back then for you (if it would help) - session 3 should be early/mid January so I can feedback on at least another session before you make your mind up.
