I (MTF 57, HRT later in January) came out "to the world" (i.e. Facebook and other circles) in a big bang on Friday 3rd January. That's a fateful date I must remember!

I had decided to live exclusively as a woman, and today I went to a local superstore to buy a few bits. As I went to pay at the self-service tills I'd forgotten my card, so I had to tell supervisor - a young man. I didn't bother too much with my voice.

I returned with my card and paid. As I left a different assistant, a young woman, let me through a gap first with "after you Miss". Wow. Then the lip gloss I'd bought set the alarm off so she called out "excuse me Miss, have you bought something with a tag". So gendered correctly twice.

As I left I thanked her for gendering me correctly, telling her it was my first week "out". I like to think she looked confused but maybe I'm imagining that. She finished by saying "you look lovely" or words to that effect.
A lovely interaction, validating.

On another note, I've been living on ->-bleeped-<- and other sites. It's been a real help but having just joined Susan's Place I'm not sure where it's best to post to. This post is also on ->-bleeped-<-. Happy to hear opinions!

Congratulations Samantha!

This was nice to hear.  It is always nice to be recognized in these ways.  Perhaps one day soon it would be amazing to you and others if you are ever misgendered.  Even then, it is always pleasant to be treated and recognized as a woman.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Having validating exchanges like that is so wonderful.

About your comment above, there is a lot of bad information on social media, so we prefer that people come here as their resource. You may have noticed that references to certain sites are censored. Just because a site is popular does not mean that it is authentic. There are plenty of bad actors out there.

If you want a place to record your journey, you could start your own Member Blog here. We prefer that new members wait until they have reached 15 posts when you can send/receive PMs and publish an avatar photo on your profile. Another reason is that we want you to explore the website first. If you have something to share, look around and add your comments to other posts in the various subforums.

Be sure to read some of the other Member Blogs, so you have an idea of how you want to tell your story, what title you might want to call it, and how much or how little you might want to share. This is the internet, and this is an all-ages public forum. So think carefully about how much detail you want to include. Thanks Lori. I am happy to continue using the other platform. I have had wonderful advice from girls on it - I wouldn't be where I am today without it! Being honest I find it's format flows better than forums too.

I shall certainly look at the member blogs feature that I was unaware of.
