Any ideas how to hide them? I hadn't looked in the mirror for a month or so..for obvious reasons...and when I did, there they were...glaring back at me. I HATE IT. *breathes fire*

Anyhow, I tuck have to tuck my shirt in at work and I'm afraid someone will notice that I have these godawlful things. Any way to play it off or hide it? One dude there already suspects me as trans and this doesn't help.  >:(

No. Wish I could help. I will tell you though that I've known natal men with obvious hips and if you pass well enough, it shouldn't be a problem really. I mean no one suspected those men of being trans or women or anything.

Hmm do you mind me asking what you do? I only ask because sometimes there are things you can wear, but I don't know what your uniform/outfit consists of.

As a male I have always had hips, eccentuated by my skinniness. I got a lot of dirty looks, but in the end it is fairly common so it won't be the deciding factor as to whether or not you pass.
The best I can tell you is to avoid tucking your shirt in unless it's absolutely neccesary. The proper style of pants help tremendously. Of course that is dictated by your style but, try and stay away from pleated pants even in dress slacks. A slightly lower rise baggy jean with a loose fitting button up shirt will give the impression of a narrow waist and nothing else if you have to tuck your shirt in.
Hope those help, I've had 24 years experience hiding my hips  ;)

Hmm Jai just gave me a thought. There are hip compressors and stuff out there.

I work at Burger King. I have to tuck my shirt in at all times. We're not allowed to wear pants resembling 'jeans material'. I typically wear cargo pants or dickie's dress pants. The only problem with compressing my hips is that there's nothing there to compress. Just bone >:(

I pass well enough. I mean, I have facial hair and a slight adam's apple, and a deep voice. I'm pre-T though.

I could be worrying excessively but...

I don't know how well you can see them there, but what are my chances of not drawing attention to my waistline?

You pass. I don't. I'm far too femmy.
I don't notice anything in that pic but like you said, the uniform is different. But you look male enough that the hips wouldn't matter, I'd think.

It depends how much hips is hips.
Are you hips big because of padding or bones.
While there are some difference between males and
female, the biggest difference is caused by fat not bone.
The difference in bone size between men and women is not
that large and a good proportion of men fall into female range.
Its the fat on the hips that's the big gender differentiatior
to the naked eye.

If your overweight and you've got much fat there,
your hips will be way outta range for a male.

If you lose weight, your hip size will go into male territory
and of course, your waist will move out of male territory
since your waist will be become defined. But, its
much easier to hide a tiny waist than hide humogo hips,
so I think that's the way to go.

If your already thin, well then your probably worrying for
nothing.

Clean your room, young man!

Seriously, you pass and don't have any broader hips than a lot of bio guys. Wearing your pants across the hips, like you are, and not hiking them up to your waist helps. And wearing shirts that are not tight (not overly baggy, just not clingy) helps hide any waistline you might have.

Hey ZAP,
I don't comment on passability very often, you look like a guy to me, even with the things I'm going to mention. But look, I know how paranoid we can be about our bodies, so just some ideas when you are thinking about de-emphasizing your hips:

I'd recommend that you wear baggy shirts and stay away from any type of pleated pants, as cargo pants sometimes are.

Watch out for layers that show UNDER your shirt. If that gray shirt was layered to see underneath the green shirt, it will create the illusion of hips. We mtf's go the other direction and often wear layers like gg's to emphasize hips, it creates an illusion.

Stay with darker clothes which you do.

The sleeves rolled up like that are probably a bad idea because it creates the illusion of more in the hip section than if they were pulled down or not there. In other words, the more bulk you add to your sides via tighter shirts, visible layers, rolled up sleeves, etc, the worse off you'll be.

Also, you could wear shirts with designs on them which will pull the focus up a little higher, but I don't know how you are with your top, some FTM's wouldn't be comfortable with that.

You do look great ZAP! Meghan

Mine are bone, all bone, hence why I stated that trying to compress or bind them would be futile.

To whoever said don't wear short sleeves...I don't. I only push up my sleeves when I'm alone at home. For obvious reasons. My chest is...meh. I ordered a new binder and am awaiting its arrival so once I have it I'll probably be more willing to wear shirts with designs, to draw attention away from the waist.

Thanks for the suggestions people :)

Fashion sites online have lots of advice to deemphasize the hips
(and in this case, where talking big hips). Its made for women (obviously),
but their advice would still work for you since your goal is the same.

You could google deemphasize hips pants and you'll get info.

Wide leg pants (most menswear pants I think are like that), back pockets aren't that great either unless you've got a flat butt. Front pockets are OK. No pleats. Dark pants.

A jacket that doesn't finish on the hips, is good to create width upstairs; don't take a jacket too large or you'll swim in it which is not a good look. Something a bit lighter (to contrast with the dark downstairs)

Its great to have all you ladies helping me out :p

I don't know anything about fashion or colors de-emphasizing things...obviously.

You're very slim up and down Zombie, and that probably gets you taken for younger than you are.
For that reason, I think a men's jacket with some stucture and maybe even padding in the shoulders could balance your silhouette. Of course, doing a lot of shoulder exercise helps too :-).
  •

zombiesarepeaceful

That would help, actually. I have a bad left shoulder which I had to go to physical therapy for in the past. I need to go back to those exercises, now that you mention it.

Its odd, people take me for a variety of ages. At work, I'm told by my coworkers that they thought I was at least 18. Maybe its how I handle myself in person, that causes me to be taken for that age. *shrug* Anyhow, thanks :D

Yes you definitely pass. I wouldn't even take a second glance
  •

gothique11

You totally pass. But, saying that, I know how we can tend to notice things that others don't. I look at my self and go, "Oh my god, there's no way!" But, in reality, I seem to get by fine.

I think you pass fine zombie,

I had one question though. . . are those cuts on your arm?

P.S. You resemble nothing of a feminine figure or look if you ask me hehe.  And I have to say, that's pretty remarkable when you're pre T too.  :D
