Quote from: Emma1017 on Today at 02:28:08 PMIf you come to New York, try pizzas at a couple of places. If there is a line go to the next pizzeria without a line. Just stay away from Domino's and other national brands.
During the summer we buy local pizza dough and make it on the grill. Rao's is my favorite Italian sauce with fresh mozzarella and basil. You can even buy pizza dough made in NYC on line. The argument is the NYC water that we get from the Catskills Mountains is the key ingredient. I have to agree.
I never get the nice round pizza pies when I do it. They kind of look like misshapen trapezoids but they still taste great!
Advice for life. Not to mention that the stuff you get from those fast food places... it's like an average adult's daily calorie content in a single sitting. Not sure I want to know what's in them to make them so calorie dense.
I rarely have pizza because I really don't like tomato purée. So I don't like the sauce on them. Same reason I don't eat much Italian food in general. They love the stuff. I prefer a nice garlic and herb flatbread, with some good mozzarella, peppers, chanterelle mushrooms, and oodles (one of my favourite words) of spicy chorizo sausage. That's a close approximation of a pizza but without the sauce. And is far too delicious to be legal.
Never worry about getting the perfect shape. Your tummy doesn't care what shape it is!
