Well here goes nothing. I'm Adrian, also known as Ally to the people in my hometown. I'm 17, 18 in 6 months, and just starting this journey. I've always known I was different than the other AFABs around me. I never liked the pink dresses or the newest dolls. I was always more interested in WWE and riding dirt bikes. It was more interesting to me, more adventurous than the easy female path that I was supposed to walk. But every step of the way my mother would always push me into female clothes and say "beauty is pain" and "girls don't get dirty" and stuff of the sort. I never listened to it. I knew I was more like the guys than the girls my age and I wanted to express that. Once puberty hit, everything became much more clear. I hated my period and my chest. I wanted to stay the same lanky kid. Eventually I learned to cover up and always keep a jacket on and to slouch my shoulders. I still got the guys staring at me and the girls talking about my body behing my back. It was frustrating. Once I started high school, everything kinda clicked. The reason I felt so out of place with my body wasn't because I wasn't trying to be feminine, I tried a lot, but it was because I wasn't a woman. I was a guy, just in some interesting packaging. That mindset kept me going through my freshman and sophomore year. Currently I'm in my jr year and I'm still going strong. I'm just saving up to go to college and then I'll hopefully be able to have the me that's inside on the outside. If I can't then that's alright by me. I still got to live life as a dude, just undercover
Love who you love, do what you want, and live life to the fullest. They're gonna talk about you anyways so might as well make their conversation interesting. Live as yourself, not someone everyone else wants you to be.

Adrian thank you for sharing. You are an amazing strong person. Hold strong and keep pushing through. 🫂 🤗  Annaliese
Always  look forward, there's no ⏳ to look  🔙. You are the person you were always meant to be.
Remember: if you focus too much on the destination,  you'll miss all the amazing stuff in-between.

Thanks! I'm just taking this one day at a time

That's kind of how I've settled down to seeing myself; a good act as a man, but it's just an act. It's worth taking time to get used to all the possibilities and fun, too, because your life is just getting into the interesting phase. It takes quite a long while to get a decent perspective and see yourself for who you are and I'm still refining that in my sixties!

I kinda got lucky to figure out who I am so early in life.

Yeah, but be prepared for it to shift a little as you go along. I grew up in a different time, but was certain I knew who I was when I was not far off your age, only to have that shift and refocus later. Not a huge amount, but enough to notice. A lot of trans people I've met or worked with have experienced the same and it's worth being prepared for it. Fun, too, as it always is, discovering new things about yourself!

You totally got this Adrian!!! ... You will make your life into one that serves you well... The inside... will be on the outside! I have no doubts about that!!! 🤠👍

Let go of the things that no longer serve you... Let go of the pretense of the false persona, it is not you... Let go of the armor that you have worn for a lifetime, to serve the expectations of others and, to protect the woman inside... She needs protection no longer.... She is tired of hiding and more courageous than you know... Let her prove that to you....Let her step out of the dark and feel the light upon her face.... amg🌸

Most people are unlucky enough only to experience one gender identity, so even if we don't get on with the one we were brought up in, we have an edge they never will.

That's how I like to view it. I understand what women go through in today's society and what they like, for the most part, and it allows me to be a better man because of it

Exactly, I've always seen this as a key benefit of being trans. People rarely seem to make much of it, but I can feel it in me as strongly as you've expressed it in you.

It's what makes us resilient. It's part of us and we should be proud of it

Yes, and see it as an advantage, even when others try and limit us to the grey world they've chosen to inhabit, perhaps? When I have to put on a shirt, now I can think of you, and when you can't escape wearing a dress, you can think of me. Or anyone else here. We may not be travelling to the same destination, but we share so much.

Adrian, you have the wisdom and courage at 17 to recognize your truth and act on it. It took me 61 years just to see it. By being yourself and sharing your story here, you inspire others, many of whom are much older and still learning who they are.

Thank you for trusting your heart.

Enjoy the journey, Adrian. I waited until I was almost too old to smell the roses. But they are so beautiful, now that I know what they look like. Just enjoy.

Yeah, it's honestly pretty cool to have figured it out so early in life. Luckily I'm surrounded by some lovely ladies who've helped me out tremendously
