Hormone hunger?

Today is my fourth day on hormones. Yesterday, I noticed I was hungrier than usual. Big time hungry. Is this from the hormones?

It can be. I didn't notice it from estradiol, but shortly after taking my progesterone, I get really hungry. Just have a healthy snack, and it will subside.  :)

Alana, it seems too early in your hormone journey to notice such results, but not impossible! Estradiol has an effect of lowering body temperature, especially in extremities, by a couple of degrees. Your body will notice this and react by wanting to increase calorie intake, and this is why people say you put on weight with estradiol therapy.

There are other changes like the reduction of haemoglobin which happen early in HRT, but it is simply a matter of adjusting to these until they even out. Be aware of these changes, and plan to maintain a healthy diet and weight. You don't have to put on weight!

A good doctor will advise you about the secondary changes like loss of height, reduced energy, and others, and if they can't, start looking for a doctor with the experience to be able to properly advise you.

I do not think I get hungry (or eat) any more often than before using estradiol and finasteride.

I do intermittent fasting and some days I likely eat more than I should. 

So, no food difference. 

I do now have nice but not large boobs so that is different.

Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding. Accepting yourself as the woman you are is very liberating.  Never underestimate the appreciation and respect of authenticity.  Help connect a person to someone that may be able to help that person.  Be brave, be strong.  A TRUE friend is a treasure.  Relationships are very important, people are important, and the sooner we all realize that the better off the world will be.  Try a little kindness.  Be generous with your time, energy, wisdom, and resources.   Inconvenience yourself to help someone.   I am a brown eyed, brown haired woman.

Loss of height is something that troubles me a bit. I'm quite tall, and would be a bit bummed to lose a few inches of height.

Loss of height is through a process called Lordosis, and affects the majority of cis women, but only around half of trans women. The typical length of the spine reduces by around 2 inches, but varies with everyone. I found that strengthening lower back muscles can reverse it a bit, though for most trans women, a little less height is welcomed.

I hear that everyone can lose an inch or so as they age.

I would not mind being shorter a few inches.  But it is likely not that a big a deal.

When you transition your changes, height or otherwise, are whatever your body gives you.
